Where Have all the Good Times Gone

1966 Poem, Girl were 2nd class boys will be boys

I wrote this in 1966. At the top of my worn, fragile paper are the words,

Batman is a rat fink. Robin is a queer. Joker went wild and lost his head and went crazy.

I was 16 and so naïve, fragile, and a Sophia Full empath, but in 1966, I did not know that. Neither was that information available to society. I admit that I was living in a religious family of sorts as my brother was a religious fanatic and still is that way. I have concluded that I was born the way I am. He was born the way he was. Neither the two shall break bread again. I am okay with that. I was boy crazy as most teenage girls were in the 60s. Life could be cruel to girls. After reading the poem again I see how that affected me using certain verbs, nouns, and explanatory rhyme to full fill that sadness. Society in America was lopsided towards women. As I read the poem again, I see where I blamed myself for the breakup because the guy blamed me. I believed him because that was the culture then. Men would do whatever possible to a woman and society said, boys being boys, men being men. Now, in 2026 we are back in that society by religious zealots, bigots, narcissists, and men are to rule over society. Unfortunately, it is white men who think they are kings and can lie, cheat, and treat everyone that is not light skinned, women, and children as beneath them as they splatter their evil deeds across the globe. I don’t want to go back, do you?

This poem reminded me of those years of a woman being the one blamed, while the men were treated as they could do no wrong.

Men are insecure, and arrogant because they have a dick. That is so wrong. That doesn’t calculate mathematically nor is it practical. It’s a lie.

So, peeps, I am okay today. How are you? This is who I am, an empath, a gritty blues singer, and a soul of light. This was written in 1966. Today is 2026.

Where have all the good times gone

They have faded away into dreams of yesterday

Now I don’t seem so proud,

I don’t talk so loud

Silently I will walk the long way

Gone are the streams of only happiness

No more to be found around the town

Everywhere I go reminds me of you

Every time I go up, I come right back down

Why can’t people forget what happened

Why can’t they leave what’s past alone

Sure, I made a mistake when we broke up

But what’s done is done and what’s gone is gone

Why did you want to make a fool of me

Well, I was blind and I fell

I fell hard, I fell quick

Into burning flames of hell

Now you laugh, you laugh at me

Everybody knows it’s true

Little girl didn’t think she’d get caught

Little girl, it’s all over for you

Maybe you’re right, maybe you’re wrong

The truth will show in a little while

Then we’ll see who gets the last laugh

Just takes time a little while and a

Good long trial

You did know me when I was good

When I was found before I got lost

You should have known, but my luck

You left and I’m paying the cost

Why did you say you loved me

Why did you say you even cared

You said you’d never leave me

And our make-believe love we shared

All that has passed now and gone

Gone over the rainbow, gone over the moon

I found someone that really cares

Bright tomorrow, I pray will come soon
