At a time when Republican Americans are voting against money that would aid in the National Formula Shortage, it is insane that they are also advocating for more unwanted babies. Yes, I said it. Unwanted.

Of course you could argue that there will always be parents desperate to adopt an infant, but that’s a different issue for a different day. If babies are born to mothers who would have chosen abortion, they arem for the sake of this argument, unwanted. And also they will most likely end up on formula. See the issues staring to add up? Right, let’s move on.

Some pro-life people will argue that “The reason for the abortion matters.” As in, if you were violated, your health is in immediate danger or the pregnancy isn’t viable then maybe you can terminate. But why should we have to be assaulted to have the rights to our own bodies? What about the 20 year old college student whose condom broke? How about a 35 year old who already has 3+ children and cannot afford, mentally or physically, another mouth to feed? What about the 16-45+ year old who wanted to have sex without entering into an 18+ year commitment? Is that so awful to want to have sex without wanting a baby? To plan poorly, or make a mistake?

some say that we must be held responsible for our actions, but it seems unfair to force a new life onto this earth to teach its parents a lesson. That’s cruel and unusual punishment in my opinion, for both the parents and the new baby, born into a cruel and unforgiving wasteland to two (possibly one, or none) people who may or may not be able to raise them.

Should we really be forced to expect to get pregnant every time we have penetrative sex? Condoms break, contraceptives fail and some men and women who were deemed infertile get their “Miracle” baby. Preventative matters do not stop unwanted pregnancies.

Are you aware that the Supreme Court recently passed a law to turn a blind eye to the wrongly convicted, even when there is new evidence Presented? Once convicted, you will serve out your sentence even if you can prove beyond any doubt that you are innocent. If Roe V. Wade is overturned that miscarriages could be investigated as to whether they were intentional. Are you connecting these dots? Imagine this, you experience the most heartbreaking experience of your life, you miscarry a baby that you so dearly wanted and were to ready to love and care for, but your government is so worried about babies that aren’t wanted that you are now being investigated. You are broken, and numb, asking you if you did this on purpose. The cruelty is unimaginable.

America is heading down a very dark road, one we may not be able to come back from. We can not let them push us back. Once they take women's rights, who’s next? Why are old men making laws for women's bodies? For babies, they have no responsibility or connection to? For things, they will never understand or experience? For babies, they will not live to see become adults, for an overpopulated future they won’t be here for? We can’t let them take our rights. We must fight back. It is unfair that we must fight for our rights again, after only having them for such a brief period in time, by comparison. We cannot stay silent, we have to protect each other and we have to protect our future generation of women.

We won’t go back. We will not let them win.
