friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
A Stick, a Rock, and a Can of Pepper Spray
There are moments in each of our lives that we know could have played out differently. In some cases, different would have been better, and we spend so long torturing ourselves with regret over what might have been. Yet there are other moments that come and pass, leaving us feeling lucky and blessed that they worked out the way they did.

How Did We Get Here?
I watched the funeral of my school friend’s son online this month, on Facebook. It took place at the same church I was first married in, and where both my daughters were christened. Her son was twenty-five years old, the same age I was when I married in that church. I watched it online, of course, due to the ongoing global pandemic.

The Tale Of You & Me Part 3: Together Again
Dear Greta, Once again, it is time for me to continue telling our story. When we last left off, it was reaching the end of our first time apart. Throughout the years, I have joked every now and again about being the king of self-destructive behavior. While I may have always said it in a joking manner, I wholeheartedly believe that I have the bad habit of sabotaging anything good going for me in my life. It's undoubtedly one of my worse habits and something that I have recently been trying to address. Unfortunately, my self-destructive tendencies applied to our relationship as well. There's no way for me to sugar coat it Greta, I fucked up. I broke your heart and I was absolutely sure that we wouldn't ever be together again after I did. Although, life can have the habit of surprising us, this time the surprise came in the form of a message that I received from you.

Compassion and kindness
A woman went to the bank of a canal and placed something hidden in her lap on the ground. As soon as the object was placed on the ground, a faint sound came out. Like a baby crying. When the woman bent down to drink water in the canal, her balance could not be maintained and she fell and drifted away.
