dating
All about dating. First dates, three years into a relationship, Tinder, and more.
A Night to Remember.
"6:30 PM" The time read on the clock, on my stove. I am still sitting here on my couch, watching "Bridgerton" on Netflix. My name is Theresa, I just got off work, as a data engineer. I changed into my oversized bunny shirt and short shorts, while opening a bottle of Merlot wine to celebrate the weekend.

SEEKING: that feeling
There is nothing as careless as a young person's love. Up until then, your understanding of romance was mostly built through conceptual knowledge, slowly but surely fortifying an inevitably flawed construct of what should be. Thousands of lives spent trying to write of young love, to describe its fragility and tender motivations, by thousands of people who'd finally felt that first sting.

Key 2My Hart
The beginning of 2011 was a hard time for me as I was going through a breakup with the “love of my life.” You could see the stress and sadness written all over my face. My ex left Michigan to live with family in Delaware and my world was crushed. My beat friend Stephanie knew I was in a bad way and wanted to try and make me feel better. She set me up on a blind date and the rest is history.

From Second Base to Forever
Cassie sat on the edge of her bed contemplating what to do for the day, a rare day off. Her life was not how she expected it to be at 34. Where was the husband, the home? It wasn't that she had a bad life, quite the opposite, but it was a long way from what she had envisioned only a few months ago.

The Illustrated Heart
It was as Inez remembered, but their table was too big now. Sam would sit there, chair pushed at an angle against the wall, left shoulder and head leaned into the hotel’s red bricks that were almost bleached pink. Left arm across his part of the table. Fingertips dancing the rim of a wine glass, an occasional swirl to watch the legs run. He would slouch, legs out but crossed at the ankles, right over left. Maybe a toe tap to music only he heard, like a secret from the buskers in Jackson Square. On different trips they sat here, slightly drunk, watching shadows in the hotel courtyard go long and blue before surrendering to the gravity of their own darkness. He might say something like,“Yves Klein believed Blue has no dimensions, it’s beyond dimensions”, and order another bottle.

The Date
He was late. I ordered a glass of Merlot. After twirling it around and watching the legs creep down the inside of the goblet, I sat admiring its ruby reflection on the tablecloth. I picked up my phone. No new messages. I flipped through the menu deciding to order two small plates, the brie with garlic crostini, and the crabmeat stuffed portobello caps.

Lucky Shoes
"It's a dinner party." she said. "Wear whatever you want!" she said. "It's only my family." she said. So when I showed up to her childhood home in slacks, a nice button-down blue shirt and my trusty, beaten-up Vans, I could tell that I had interpreted at least one of those messages incorrectly. She was all smiles until she got to my shoes where she winced a little like I had hit a speed bump too hard.
