"well can we talk" he said

"you want to open this chapter again" she said

"if you want to or lets just end this chapter once and for all" he replied

Finding themselves a place to sit privately was real difficult to find as outside was blistering heat and everyplace inside was occupied. As they found a spot to sit under the shade of a tree, the tension between them was palpable. He made an attempt to break the ice, hoping to lighten the atmosphere. "Well, you still have to teach me how to make coffee," he said, trying to bring back a memory from their past. She responded with a small smile, but her words hinted at lingering concerns. "Not after what's been happening," she replied, alluding to the difficulties they had faced.

His heart sank further as he realized his efforts weren't enough to alleviate the awkwardness. Gathering his courage, he began to explain his feelings and experiences. He recounted how they had known each other for a while but had never had a conversation like this before, emphasizing the strangeness of the situation. She urged him to get on with the topic, indicating her desire to address the issue at hand. Hearing her words, he felt a mixture of anxiety and hope.

He opened up about the past, sharing how she had often ghosted him and shown him attitude. Despite her resistance to starting a relationship and her avoidance, he couldn't deny that he loved her deeply, both in the past and in the present. He admitted that he still cared, despite what others might have said about her being a bad influence. It was a vulnerable moment, laying his heart bare before her.

Trying to ease the tension with a touch of humor, he couldn't help but mention their divergent music tastes. "You could still pull up Conan Gray but it is not likely for me to get olivia. But hey, at least we can agree on how pretty she is and damn i can't wait for the new album to drop," he said with a grin, hoping to bring back a touch of familiarity and shared interests. This shared music interest brought life back into the conversation.

Her laughter resonated softly, a genuine expression of joy as she appreciated his light-hearted remark. "Belated happy birthday to you, by the way. I know we weren't on speaking terms then, but now seems like the perfect opportunity to extend my wishes," she said, her smile radiating warmth.

Gratitude swelled within him as he thanked her for the birthday wishes and reciprocated the sentiment, knowing that they both shared the same special day, even if he held the title of being a year older. "Ah, yes, thank you and belated happy to you too. Thou I may be older, so a little respect is in order," he playfully retorted, injecting a lighthearted tone into the moment.

To avoid the next awkwardness that was imminent she brought up the book she had recommended to him, "The Tattooist of Auschwitz." Curious about his reaction, she asked him how he had found it. He responded with a playful grin, "Well, it was a bit of a slow read for me. I'm not used to those types of books, but overall, it was good. Thanks for the recommendation."

As the conversation unfolded, a sense of honesty and vulnerability began to bridge the gap between them. They both realized the importance of addressing their past and understanding each other's perspectives. It was a crucial step towards closure or perhaps the start of a new chapter, one where they could learn from their past mistakes and move forward together.

Under the tree's comforting shade, their conversation continued, intermingled with occasional jokes and shared laughter. It wasn't a perfect reunion, but it was a beginning—an opportunity to mend their history and explore the possibility of a renewed connection, built on understanding, honesty, and genuine affection.
