Moneyless Society

Imagine the world without money

Have you ever heard the expression that money is the root-cause of all evil? I have heard this expression several times forcing me to imagine how the world would have been without money. This hypothetical scenario raises several thought-provoking questions. For instance, would the notion of class difference still exist? Would distinctions between developing and developed nations still be relevant? What about crime? Would there still be crimes? Could a moneyless society prevent criminal behavior? Undoubtedly, money plays a crucial role in facilitating our daily lives. Its impact is evident in the benefits it has brought to humanity. We literary wake up every morning pretending that we love what we do but the real motive behind that is money. I doubt whether most of the people who claim to be passionate about something in a modern society would still be passionate if money as a factor is removed from the equation. In our current world, money wields significant influence even over our emotions.

Now, as I imagine of a moneyless society, what comes to mind is a more united world with fewer socially constructed divisions. Perharps the main division might revolve around strength and weakness, reminiscent of Charles Darwin's "survival of the fittest" concept. I believe discriminatory factors such as race are real and they have had a very negative impact on society in causing a lot of division. Interestingly, these factors tend to impact the lower class more than the upper class. It's improbable that two billionaires of different races, meeting before their private jets, would engage in racial abuse. The rare occurrence would likely lack impact: "He's a billionaire, who cares". In other words, the unlikelihood of racially motivated abuse between them underscores how class may override other divisions.

As I continue to image that moneyless society, another thing that comes to mind is a happier society. In this moneyless society, happiness could flourish as people find contentment in what they have. The pursuit of material gain, which often breeds negative emotions when unattained, would diminish. Additionally, happiness will be as a result of people getting more social and spending more time with those they love. In the modern society, many people are so much engrossed in the pursuit of money and wealth that they have absolutely zero time for their familial connections. Spending enough time with the people we love not only increases our social bond but also relieves us from the stress associated with other things such as pursuit of wealth. I believe spending time with our loved ones is one of the greatest ways to show we apprecate them in our lives and a great distractor to keep us away from activities that may tempt us to commit evil.

Lastly, as I think of a moneyless society, what comes to mind is a more secure society with little crime. While crime existed prior to the emergence of money, much criminal activity today is driven by financial motives. Competition for wealth has influenced people to engage in activities that risk te lives of other for their own material gain. Corruption and influencial people who prey on unsuspecting citizens would be a thing of the past when the financial motives are eliminated. The quest for power might be one of the few competitive forces that persist.

Conclusively, in my imagination of a moneyless world, I'm struck by the potential for positive change. The eradication of money could lead to a more harmonious and equitable world, where people prioritize human connections, contentment, and collective well-being. However, the complexities of human nature and behavior suggest that while the absence of money may mitigate some issues, it may not completely eliminate others.
