Why are people so quick to judge? You don’t know how someone arrived at the current point in their life. Some people are misunderstood. Everything is not always as it seems. Everyone in prison or jail isn’t guilty and as they say, “everything crying holy aint holy.” Just because someone is locked up doesn’t exactly mean they are guilty. Crimes are committed every day and sometimes innocent people go to jail just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time or guilt by association.
But once a person is labeled a criminal, that’s all they will ever be viewed as. “Everything crying holy aint holy” is one I hear so much, its not even funny, but its true. Its people out here that act like being a Christian is set in stone. There is no such thing as a perfect Christian. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s not. There are so many scriptures in the bible proving that very thing. You don’t have to recite the bible word for word to be considered a Christian.
Another label that people never live down is being called an addict. Being an addict is not something that you can change overnight. Being on drugs and suffering from alcoholism has reasoning behind it. You never know what has gone on in that person’s life as the reason that they have turned to drugs and alcohol but whatever it is, its between the person and their addiction. But if a person survives their addiction and is able to stay sober or stay clean, we should be proud of their success not remind them of their addiction. People honestly can change. I wrote a poem with that exact title.
People Can Change
People can change, I am not the old me
The past is just that so let it be
You are not perfect, none of us are
With your try to be high saddity self, you aint even up to par
Come down off that high horse, how dare you judge me
There is a nursery rhyme that says, do you see what I see
Believe it or not, I have changed
Love me or hate me, just stay in your lane
One other thing about being judgmental: Fake love. People will look dead in your face and say they love you, faking a smile and all at the same time, thinking the most awful thoughts in their mind about you. Its sad but it happens. But people just need to be who they are and leave it at that. Facial expressions say it all.
Reveal
The look on your face gives it away
You don't say what you're thinking, I'm not a mind reader, but I know anyway
Your worst enemy could even be one of your friends
They can fake a smile, start rumors about you, gossip, the list of what they do never ends
Family members can be the same way
It all boils down to sharing a certain amount of information, what to say and what not to say
They say it's hard to make friends but it easier to make enemies
Don't go by what you hear, go by what you see
Now that’s a poem that I just wrote that I truly believe. People have a bad habit of going by what they have heard about someone instead of getting to know a person for themselves. I strike up random conversations with people all the time wherever I go. It can be about any given subject. In the conversation, I am getting to know the person and they are getting to know me. This is mainly the case at Walmart. So, as you can see, you can get to know a person, without judging them.
