Is it a bug, alien, or the government? Those random itches

What are those random itches and why do they occur?

Do you know those sharp itches which make you jump out of your seat? I for sure do. I've hit my knee against the table a few too many times to not know about them. The itches pop up at random times often surprising the victim. It's like a little prick of a needle against your skin which makes your whole leg jump. Just like the exercise performed by the doctor with the tomahawk (otherwise called the Taylor) to test your reflexes. Without any say from yourself, your leg bounces forward on instinct.

I'm sure there are many conspiracy theories for this phenomenon. For example, it could be bugs crawling underneath your skin or bugs digging into your skin. The itching feeling is almost like a bug inching around that just pops up out of nowhere. As a child, I too thought it might be a bug once or twice. The ones along your spine especially feel like this.

With the number of government conspiracies, I am sure there is one for these random itches as well. Who knows, it could be a device planted in you scanning your body or anything of the sort. I, personally, do not believe any of these government conspiracies, but whatever floats your boat.

A Criminal Minds episode "The Itch" ties together the conspiracies of the parasites and government implants. He has many hallucinations about the parasite implants, even how his blood is black. In turn, he often tortured those who didn't believe him with insects. It was his way of showing people what he felt.

In addition to these two, aliens could be another reason for people to come up with conspiracies about these random itches. People will often call these "sleeper agents." Some will say the person is chosen by the aliens to become a wife/husband of a royal alien while others will hit on the completely other side saying they are to be later harvested.

There are many different logical reasons as to why this itching occurs and what it might be? And it's not bugs, aliens, or something planted by the government.

Hair Growth

Itching by hair growth is often caused when a new hair sprouts. The sprout curls over and tickles the skin.

Sunburns

Sunburns are a result of damage to the top layer of skin, which contains a number of nerve fibers that are responsible for the itchy sensation. When UV rays damage this layer, it causes these nerves to activate, which makes you experience an increased amount of itchiness.

Healing Wounds

During the wound-healing process, these nerves signal the spinal cord that the skin is being stimulated. The brain perceives those signals as itchy. These nerves are also sensitive to chemicals, such as histamine, which the body releases in response to an injury.

Dry Skin

Dry skin occurs for a variety of environmental reasons. It is more common during the fall and winter months when humidity levels are relatively low. Dry skin occurs also for a variety of internal reasons. Older adults are more prone to develop dry skin. As we age, our skin gets thinner and drier. Frequent bathing or showering with hot water or frequent hot tub use also raises the risk of dry skin.

Insect Bites

Their saliva contains an anticoagulant and proteins. The proteins are foreign substances that trigger the body's immune system. To fight them the body's immune system releases histamine, a compound that helps white blood cells get to the affected area. Histamine is what causes itchiness, inflammation, and swelling.

Medical Reasons

There are many different medical reasons for itching, such as; allergies, hives, dermatitis, skin lesions, atrophic dermatitis. Each has something to do with inflammation of the skin or a reaction to something.

As you can see, there are many logical reasons for these random itches along your body. It's not the government planting bugs in your skin or alien sleeper agents. While they do seem quite strange or maybe something that could not absolutely happen to you, they are actual medical diagnoses.
