While it can be difficult to maintain positivity when life is hectic, it’s possible to stay sane and happy in crazy, busy times. Here are some ways to keep your sanity and find happiness in the craziest of schedules.


Define your goals
The first step to managing your stress is determining what you want and need. Don’t be afraid to break your goals down into manageable parts. For example, if you want to lose weight, think of smaller goals that will help you get there– like drinking more water or working out three times a week. Allowing yourself to take small steps in the right direction will keep you motivated and on track.


Make time for yourself
It can be easy to forget about yourself when you’re constantly running from one thing to the next. However, it’s important to take time for yourself in order to maintain your sanity and happiness. Some ideas for making time for yourself include getting a massage or taking short yoga sessions throughout the day. You could also plan a day of pampering by doing things like getting a manicure and pedicure, visiting the sauna or getting your hair done at a salon.


Make time for relationships
Relationships are important, no matter what stage of life you’re in. Whether you have a partner, a parent, children or friends, maintaining relationships is important. Spending time with the people that care about you can help keep you grounded and happy as work often gets hectic.


Watch what you eat to stay energized
If you’re feeling exhausted, it’s probably because of your diet. When you eat food that is high in sugar, carbohydrates, and fat, it will cause an energy high followed by a crash. This can lead to exhaustion as your body never receives the nutrients it needs to stay energized.

Watching what you eat is one of the most important things you can do to make sure you are staying energized. Your diet should consist of foods that are high in protein and low in sugar. For example, when you wake up in the morning make sure to start with eggs or a smoothie with fruits and vegetables for breakfast instead of pastries or sugary cereal.


Spend more time outside
Spending more time outside is one of the best ways to stay sane and happy in crazy, busy times. If you work at a desk all day, when you walk outside your head will feel lighter. If you’re able to take a break at lunch, spend it outside in the sun or go for a walk.

This also applies if you have a job that doesn’t keep you cooped up inside. Take some time to spend outdoors during your lunch break or on your way home from work. This will help you stay healthy and get more Vitamin D, which has been shown to decrease symptoms of depression.

Additionally, going outside will help you forget about work for a minute and give yourself a fresh perspective on things when you return.


Set goals, keep them public
One of the most important things you can do when you’re feeling overwhelmed is to set goals. When you know what your end goal is and what needs to happen in order to get there, it makes it easier to stay on track.

Setting goals also helps you stay motivated and allows you to see the progress that you’ve made in the past. You should make your goals public, so that other people know about them and can help you stick with them.


Change up your routine
One of the best ways to stay sane and happy is to change up your routine. Get creative with how you spend your time. If you’ve been sitting at a desk all day long, go for a walk outside or take a quick break and stretch. You could also take some time to mediate or practice Yoga. Stretch your body for a few minutes and then return to work refreshed! Working from home can also be challenging when it comes to happiness as there are no coworkers around, so make sure you find new ways to socialize with people and stay connected.
