Heart Health: These 6 Factors Increase Your Risk Of A Heart Attack
One of the best ways to reduce your risk of heart disease is to eat a healthy diet while maintaining a healthy weight.
According to the World Health Organization cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Whether you have heart disease in your family or not you should focus on your heart health. With heart problems on the rise worldwide one of the best ways to reduce your risk of heart disease is to maintain a healthy weight and eat a healthy diet. A poor diet puts a lot of stress on your heart and increases the risk of a heart attack. In an Instagram post Luneet Patra mentioned six things that increase the risk of a heart attack. Lets see them.
6 risk factors of a heart attack:
1. Smoking
We are acutely aware of the effects of smoking on heart health. The chemical fumes in cigarettes cause blood to clot and clot in the veins and arteries. According to health experts blood clots can cause heart failure and sudden death.
The Nation's Risk Factors and CDC's Response. Leading risk factors for heart disease and stroke are high blood pressure, high low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, diabetes, smoking and secondhand smoke exposure, obesity, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity.

2. High blood pressure
It keeps your blood pressure levels down to benefit your heart. High blood pressure damages the arteries by making them less elastic which reduces the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart. This causes heart attack
High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is blood pressure that is higher than normal. Your blood pressure changes throughout the day based on your activities. Having blood pressure measures consistently above normal may result in a diagnosis of high blood pressure (or hypertension)..
3. High cholesterol
Did you know that high LDL cholesterol can double a persons risk of developing heart disease? This is because excess cholesterol can build up on artery walls and block blood flow to a persons heart and other organs.
High cholesterol is when you have too much of a fatty substance called cholesterol in your blood. It's mainly caused by eating fatty food, not exercising enough, being overweight, smoking and drinking alcohol. It can also run in families. You can lower your cholesterol by eating healthily and getting more exercise

4. Diabetes
According to Lunit Batra high blood sugar can constrict your heart and damage blood vessels and nerves. A blocked coronary artery can slow or stop the blood that supplies the heart with oxygen and nutrients he explains.
Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) health condition that affects how your body turns food into energy. Your body breaks down most of the food you eat into sugar (glucose) and releases it into your bloodstream. When your blood sugar goes up, it signals your pancreas to release insulin.
5. Overweight or obesity
Excess weight leads to a build-up of fatty material in the arteries. If the arteries that carry blood to your heart get damaged and clogged, it may lead to a heart attack.
*Overweight is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher. Obesity is defined as a BMI of 30 or higher. See the BMI calculator for people 20 years and older and the BMI calculator for people ages 2 through 19.
6. Physical activity
Whether its going to the gym or taking a walk in the park some form of physical activity is essential for heart health. It is estimated that approximately 35% of coronary heart disease mortality is due to physical inactivity, the nutritionist said
Physical activity refers to all movement including during leisure time, for transport to get to and from places, or as part of a person's work. Both moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activity improve health
