ART Call for Mozaik Philanthropy!
An Amazing All Artists International Art Call for Artists of All Mediums and My Submission!
So, I came across an awesome opportunity and just had to share, but also wanted to enclose my own little piece that I submitted for this particular arts call below, first;
We birthed you into existence
Raised and fed you up to be
And in turn, you made us wear veils
And show shame for existing
Despite all that, we could be
To understand the pain
Would be the beginning
But the stain
It will not be so forgiving
Cries from the ground
Vibrating, we’ve found
With the footsteps of every soul
The wounds that you’ve spread have come
And brought us much dead
And now we’ll unite to take the toll
But no more will we stand idly, in fear, hoping and praying that eventually, you’ll hear
Because with each silent turn away, to just obey and not speak, our families have been ripped apart, and our futures left bleak.
No more will we mute our honest, deep-felt woes, and it is because of you that we now wrestle through these throes.
Look now upon the truth, and accept what will no longer be
For the toleration of injustice will never set anyone free.
I also submitted another of my pretty popular poems, which is as follows to showcase the emotion I felt when reading over the Mozaik Arts Call;
They placed a constraint upon her,
shackles now weighing down her wrists.
Tendrils slip past her cheek, drenched in blood and sweat
bits are dried, and others wet
As the bite of metal tears into the tender skin
She wonders how did she wind up here?
What was her sin?
Was it the beauty of her face, bronze and supple as sweet as a young doe's
But why, then, would she carry such deep-felt woes?
Shouldn't something so precious be allowed to flourish not be kept in silence, beaten, ridiculed, and forgotten
always wondering...
why was she forgotten?
Her voice was muffled with a loud slap
and stripped of her dignity, they beat her with everything..
whack.
whack.
whack.
Her cries were met with a roar of berating - words full of envy, cruelty...focused on hating.
Her spirit eventually wore completely down
and in time she was quieted...her voice no longer found.
Society branded her for speaking out her truth, and carried her through this new Age Inquisition - robbing her of her youth.
She is your daughter.
And she is mine.
Let's hope we can change this
before we run out of time.
Now, for the Mozaik Arts Call:
“An arts-based expression of global solidarity with the movement for freedom in Iran.
The 2022 Future Art Awards: WOMAN. LIFE. FREEDOM. is an arts-based expression of solidarity with the brave women of Iran, in their intersectional movement for freedom and human rights. Women and men throughout the country…and people all over the world, are rising up to protest the tragic death of 22-year-old woman Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, who died in police custody after being reportedly beaten by Iranian morality police on September 16th, 2022.
Countless other people have now lost their lives or have been arrested by the Iranian regime in this escalating humanitarian crisis, including artists, writers, journalists, political dissidents, and even children.
MOZAIK Philanthropy has launched this emergency open call-to-action as an invitation to global artists wishing to use their art to express emotional support of the women in Iran at this pivotal moment in history.
There are over 5-million artists in the United States alone. Together with the potential power of the greater global creative community, MOZAIK Philanthropy hopes this international open call for art will demonstrate unity around the values of freedom, equality, and justice, as human rights for all, especially for the women in Iran willing to risk their lives, for freedom.”
