Life can be tough!

A break up, a challenging situation at work, or just feeling stuck in a rut. We all go through these at one time or another. It may be difficult to find the motivation to keep going, but sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement, a little pick-me-up, and you find yourself moving forward again

You are not alone.

First and foremost, know that you are not alone. It is completely normal to go through difficult times and it is ok to feel upset, anxious or overwhelmed. So, take a deep breath, and know that it's ok to not feel ok.

How to cope with anxiety?

1. Find something to be grateful for

One thing that always helps me when I'm feeling down is to find something to be grateful for. It might sound cheesy, but taking a few minutes each day to focus on the things that bring us joy and gratitude can help shift our perspective and remind us of the good things in our lives. Whether it's something as small as a warm cup of coffee in the morning or as significant as a supportive friend or family member, finding something to be grateful for can be a powerful tool in boosting our mood.

2. Practice mindfulness

Another thing that can help when we're feeling anxious or overwhelmed is to practice mindfulness. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Mindfulness? That sounds like some hippie-dippie nonsense." But hear me out. Mindfulness simply means being present in the moment and paying attention to our thoughts and feelings without judgment. It can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths, or as involved as a daily meditation practice. Whatever works for you, taking a few minutes each day to be present and mindful can help reduce stress and increase feelings of calm and clarity.

3. Indulge in humor

Whether it's watching a funny movie, reading a hilarious book, or just goofing around with friends, laughter is a powerful tool for reducing stress and boosting our mood. So, go ahead and indulge in some silly humor. I promise, it'll be worth it.

4. Reach out for support

When we're feeling down, it can be tempting to isolate ourselves and wallow in our own misery. But sometimes, the best thing we can do is to reach out to others for support. Whether it's talking to a trusted friend or family member, attending a support group, or seeking professional help, reaching out for support can help us feel less alone and more empowered to tackle our challenges.

5. Self-compassion

When we're going through a tough time, it can be easy to be hard on ourselves or to feel like we're not doing enough. But treating ourselves with kindness and understanding can be a game-changer. Whether it's taking a break when we need it, practicing forgiveness, or simply acknowledging our own strengths and accomplishments, self-compassion can help us feel more supported and empowered to face whatever comes our way.

Do not worry. You've got this.

When we're feeling upset or anxious about something in our lives, it's important to remember that we're not alone, and there are ways to cope with these emotions and move forward with a sense of resilience and humor. By practicing gratitude, mindfulness, humor, seeking support from others, and practicing self-compassion, we can navigate difficult times with grace and a smile. So go ahead, take a deep breath, and remember: Failure is an event, NEVER a person! You've got this.
