THE HISTORY OF THE OGBA PEOPLE

Ogba history is replete with activities and events pioneered by great individuals. These personalities have, through their physical and mental powers changed the course of history. Consciously or not, they have been able to leave their footprints in the sand of time. Unfortunately, some of these great deeds have slipped into oblivion. Basic reasons account for this sad development.

Consciously or not, they have been able to leave their footprints in the sand of time. Unfortunately, some of these great deeds have slipped into oblivion. Basic reasons account for this sad development.
...staying within the realm of oral tradition for a very long time before being documented. This has resulted in distortion of facts. Ogba, as a nation is less than 600 years old but the imprecision in its history is overwhelming. The loosed or inaccurate account of events have resulted in the noticeable cracks we find on the body of Ogba tribe today. However, Ogba historians must continue to objectively dig into the past with the view to finding the missing links.

Ogba is a tribe in Rivers State, Nigeria all in West Africa, consisting of Egi & Igburu. They both speak one dialect with little difference with each other called #OGBA #LANGUAGE, having a combined population of about 280,000 people.

Ogba is located in the central Orashi - Sombrerio plans of Rivers State, Nigeria. It is one of the major producer of Crude Oil that fuels Nigeria's economy development in recent decades.
According to Oil company records, no Local Government in Nigeria produces as much crude oil & gas as the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (Onelga)Local Government.(Ellah 1995).

#THE #MAIN #HISTORY.
Ogba settlement have their root traceable from the old Bini Empire. Ogba people descended from the accident Bini Empire. The name of the grand Ancestor is #AKALAKA#. Their relations in Rivers state is #EKPEYE #IKWERRE & #ETCHE people.

Akalaka, is a member of the Bini Royal family, who fled in 12000AD with his two sons, Ekpeye which is the 1st son & Ogba the 2nd son were both born at Bini, together with his two brothers namely Iche & Ihruoha, leaving his wife who was later taken by Oba Ewuare as he then was. On allegation of plotting the assassination of Oba Owuare. Akalaka and his family initially ran to Agbor Delta State, & later moved to Uzobudu. At this point they were moving in between the Orashi & River Niger as fugitives. However, they finally arrived Ula- Ubio & settled there.

Akalaka two sons were deeply into hunting & fishing, Ogba had two sons which is Egi as 1st son & Igburu as second son. According to F.E Otuwarikpo (1994) after the death of Akalaka, his two sons which are Ekpeye & Ogba had gone to forest for their usual hunting & fishing, leaving Akalaka grandsons at home & the were playing as usual so somewhere along the line the play resulted to a ceaseless fight so Ogba's son used available mortar pistol against Ekpeye's son & he slumped.

Fortunately, Ogba returned home first & his son immediately narrated the incident to him, so he quickly asked his family to pack their luggage's & they moved to Ubuke (now Ahiahu) and finally settled there. While Ekpeye remained at Ula-Ubio with his seven sons, Ubie, Akoh, Upata, Igbuduya, Ekpe, Awala & Asa.

Meanwhile Iche & Ihruoha had also gone for hunting & unknowingly appeared on a strange land & couldn't find their way back home, so they finally settled at Alimini (now Ikwerre). Iche & Ihruoha also found a place at Isiokpo & named it Alimini. There they gave birth to one of their prominent son called Ochichi and Ochichi birthed most of the Ikwerre villages you see today.

However, Iche also wondered & left far away & appeared at Etche & also finally settled there.

Ogba with his two sons were still at Ubuke before conflict broke in again & igburu move to Obigwe went further & settled at Igburu while Egi remained & they respectively gave birth to the various communities which in existing in Ogba today. This was the account of the lineage of the Ogba People today.
