What I Saw at Fantastic Fest at Home 'Give Me an A' 'Amazing Elisa'
I would have loved nothing more than to travel to Austin, Texas to be part of Fantastic Fest as it unfolded September 22nd to September 29th. Sadly, I was not able to be there in person. Instead, I settled for covering Fantastic Fest At Home which offered selections from the Festival that were made available online. This included features and shorts, documentaries and a wild selection of new release movies that fit the uniquely Avant Garde reputation of Fantastic Fest. I've already had the chance to write about a pair of documentaries that I adored at Fantastic Fest, you can find my reviews of the wild A Life on the Farm and Lynch/Oz linked here. And I could not resist writing about the bizarre experience of the horror film All Jacked Up and Full of Worms, a full length review you can read linked here.

Love In The Villa
Two strangers -Mortal enemies. A turf war - Apologies. Enemies to friends. A misunderstanding. A profession of love - Passionate lovers - The end. Sound familiar. Yes! Like every romcom that ever was. But what would make this one stand out from the crowd? I'll tell you. It's the ambience, the history, the lovely sights and sounds, the poetry, and the celebration of fine wine and Shakespeare. Love in the Villa is a delightful movie for lovers of rom-com, travel, history, fine wine, poetry, and literature. The scenic locations, wine, spats, crazy taxi drivers, and other quirks all add to the beauty of this movie. If you enjoyed watching A Perfect Pairing, you will definitely love this movie.

Fall-A-Thon
Gloomy days in fall are some of the best days. There’s something to be said about having a favorite fall themed beverage, getting a comfy on the couch, and looking for something to watch. Cloudy skies can be perfect to watch a movie or a TV show that matches the atmosphere outside. Some people prefer some thing scary to watch during fall, and some people just wanna watch something easy-going during fall. There’s no wrong answer with what they find enjoyable to make their fall absolutely perfect.

Love is Strange Lacks Cohesion Despite Gay Marriage Injustice Portrayed
If you randomly get plopped down in a movie theater, there’s a real good chance that the barrier of faster than light travel has been breached, a car chase will defy the laws of physics or a superhero will fret his place in the world as he reluctantly avenges evil. But just because a movie is down to earth and leaves the screen free of an endless stream of pyrotechnics, doesn’t mean you got to fall all over it to show off your sophistication.

'Blonde': Sometimes films are meant to disturb us, but Netflix should have been more mindful
Since its release, there has been nothing but controversy surrounding Netflix’s original Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde. Many viewers have stated that they have not been able to get past the first 20 minutes due to intensely disturbing and traumatic scenes right from the start. Curious to see whether these headlines stating that streamers were switching off early were clickbait or legitimate, I decided to watch it myself (warning - there are spoilers ahead).
