Trevor WellsPublished 3 years ago in GeeksIF THIS, THEN THAT
You’re dreaming. A consensus on a good movie? Never. Deputising for her parents I am with Asha my granddaughter who insists that it is movie night. Now, I understand ‘Postman Pat’ and ‘Fireman Sam’ even ‘Shaun the Sheep’ but we have moved on to ‘Sponge Bob’ then matured to other bizarre cartoon type productions. Unrecognisable monster like characters in strange colours and features. They can perform supernatural movements with unbelievable speed. Did you notice their diminished feet? Some even had no feet at all. Being the designated adult during the school holidays to take Asha to the movies in town,I have had to sit through cartoon movies of psychotic dimensions. Frantic and unpredictable movement, brilliant flashes of bright colour with no resemblance of reality. Story line obscure with no reference to anything I understand. Yes I know I am a senior citizen and passed it. I can’t even figure out what some of the ads on Television are talking about.
Jennifer McLennanPublished 3 years ago in GeeksThe Walking Dead vs. Game of Thrones: Which Trauma Porn Disappoints the Most
Original art from: here where you could also subsequently compare how the shows rate against each other in views. The judgement will be based on completely arbitrary reasonings mostly because I just want to complain about both shows. I was a fan of both for a time and though The Walking Dead (TWD) is still apparently going (much like its zombies it will not die) now that Game of Thrones (GOT) has finally died it is time to dissect these popular gloomy shows. This is full of spoilers so continue at your own risk.

Fine Art and Forms of Fine Art an Expression of Aesthetic Imagination
The phrase “art for art's sake” expresses the spirit of fine art, which holds more aesthetic appeal than functional value. It is this very characteristic which distinguishes antique fine art from crafts, which has a utilitarian focus. Tracing back the history of human civilization, one can find examples of various artifacts crafted for the sole purpose of aesthetics.

Cyn's WorkshopPublished 3 years ago in GeeksA Filmmaker's Guide to: Cate Blanchett
In this chapter of ‘the filmmaker’s guide’ we’re actually going to be learning about literature and film together. I understand that many of you are sitting in university during difficult times and finding it increasingly hard to study and I understand that many of you who are not at university or not planning on it are possibly stuck of what to do, need a break or even need to catch up on learning film before you get to the next level. This guide will be brief but will also contain: new vocabulary, concepts and theories, films to watch and we will be exploring something taboo until now in the ‘filmmaker’s guide’ - academia (abyss opens). Each article will explore a different concept of film, philosophy, literature or bibliography/filmography etc. in order to give you something new to learn each time we see each other. You can use some of the words amongst family and friends to sound clever or you can get back to me (email in bio) and tell me how you’re doing. So, strap in and prepare for the filmmaker’s guide to film studies because it is going to be one wild ride.
Annie KapurPublished 3 years ago in Geeks3 Autobiographies by Actors
I think that secretly, we all want to know where our favourite actors of the screen came from, what they did to get famous and the inner pitfalls of their lives that make them that slight bit more like us rather than the Hollywood star normally fed to us by the media. Throughout the years, we have had an amazing array of autobiographies by actors including Marlon Brando, Sir Charles Chaplin and even Katharine Hepburn. In this list, I would like to go over three more. Some you may or may not have read but are still super interesting to get your teeth into.
Annie KapurPublished 3 years ago in GeeksBook Review: "Voices from Punjab" by Anita Goyal and Aastha Singhania
As a woman born in Britain to Punjabi Indian parents, I have constantly reminded of being an outsider to the inspiring quotation and actions of my white female counterparts. When I found this book though, I was suddenly opened up to this world in which there were other women like me, other women who had experienced similar rules and regulations to the Punjabi girl lifestyle and yet, had come out on top. Even if they were in their forties and fifties when they did - it did happen eventually. As a Punjabi woman, there were certain rules for me that did not exist for my white friends and so, this book helped me to discover how we can use our own moral rules and lifestyles to achieve something special - even though we must work twice as hard to be noticed for the same amount.
