Eléni’s First Visit - Part 5
This is the fifth and probably the last part of the tale. The first, second, third, and fourth parts need to be read beforehand to understand this one. Anthi Psomiadou had graciously agreed to become a fictional character in this unusual visit by Eléni (formerly Cryssarina) to Greece where she hoped to speak to Goddess Athena as well as find Patrick who had left Canada to meet the goddess and end his apparently miserable life.

Trevor Geddis sprinted through the woods, his heart pounding in his chest, his breathing was heavy, but he knew he could not stop running or they would find him. Beads of sweat trickled down his red face as he gasped for air. He only had to keep going a little bit more...just over the fence and he would be safe. Trevor looked at his cracked watch, he had ten minutes before the shields went up. He picked up the pace as he darted through the dark, foreboding forest. Footsteps were not far from him, he took a deep breath in and continued to run. The fence was not too far from him now, he could see it in the distance. He pushed himself even harder, his shirt was soaked with his own sweat. Trevor reached the fence, this would be the hard part, he lunged himself off the ground and grabbed onto the fence, he still had three minutes, he quickly scrambled a shot was fired at him he lost his footing, but found it again and he continued up the wall faster this time. His legs were starting to ache from running so much. Another shot was fired this time it grazed his side. Trevor let out a small noise that was barely audible, he gritted his teeth and he finally jumped down as a third shot was fired. He landed in the heap of hay that the base had laid out.
Cryssarina’s First Visit - Part 2
This is the second part of a longish story. The first part (also linked at the bottom) needs to be read first to better understand this second part. Anthi Psomiadou has graciously agreed to be included as a fictional character in this unusual visit by Cryssarina to Greece where she hopes to speak to Goddess Athena and find Patrick who may still be alive somewhere wandering around her but possibly somewhere else.

The little hand in the red dirt curled open to reveal something glinting in the blazing, midday sunshine. I stooped down and gently pushed the tiny fingers open to reveal the locket. I carefully unraveled and untangled it and held it up to the light.

Seven: Flashback IT HAD TO BE THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN I HEARD SAIL RISE. I don’t know how I ended up sharing the tent with Sail. The boys considered it a privilege, like I had become his right-hand-man. “River!” Sail hissed. “Come on.” He gestured for me to get up.

Crixus woke to the stench of blood, and the sound of screams. He stood on a battlefield, surrounded by smoking craters and the fragments of the army that had come out to meet them. Shattered tanks dotted the ground like broken teeth, and burning promethium turned the field into a scene of hell while black smoke choked the skies. Scattered across the field like chaff after a reaping were the bodies of the dead. Men, women, it was hard to tell after what had been done to them. They’d stood before the teeth of a war machine, and it had chewed them to pieces. Crixus took it in, bemused as the mists slowly cleared away from his head and he came back to himself. As the fog of battle frenzy departed, though, the pain it hid returned; the feeling of the butcher’s nails demanding to be fed. It was only a dull ache for now, but he knew the pain would grow teeth soon enough.

A warm summer breeze was playing with my dress as I approached the front gate to our garden. The creaking as I opened it and stepped through sounded like a happy hello and the roses covering the veranda were especially fragrant today. The scent completely filled up my lungs as I was rushing past the house towards the back yard where I had spotted my parents curiously standing over a rather large pile of boxes. I couldn’t wait to tell them the good news - I’ve passed my admissions exam to University!
