Dungeon Run
Prologue "How many times I'll have to beg you for it, Benjamin?" asked that man that, for him, had been a father during the long years of loneliness. The days filled with hunger, pain, and cold that preceded his invitation to join the Cleric's Order. "You know that there's no one better for this job than you."

The Yellow Hibiscus Chapter 18
I sighed, thinking I must find out if the diamond in my possession was natural and, if so, how many carats. Of course, the problem was that I had a weapon, and I couldn't really let anyone touch it until I knew exactly what it was. I sat there, afraid to move, wondering what the gypsy had seen while she was reading my palm.

My Aunt Jackie always says, ‘when you are doing something you hate to do, but you have to, or you want to do something, but you know it’s wrong, don’t think about it. Just think of doing it with your favorite movie star.

Behold the Truth
Orange light from the morning sun basks the hard-packed clay in front of us in warmth as I stand at the tip of our formation. A shield is pressed against the tricep muscle in each arm attached to my torso. Coldness from the bronze-plated wood gives me comfort, as does the calm breathing of each man behind me. Each of them is ready to die for our valiant cause; each is dedicated to bringing honor and victory to their people, and all of us are willing to kill all that stand in our way. The men amassed across the barren field from us are also willing to die for what they believe and so will.

A Lucid Dream
I found myself laying on a cold block of ice drifting with nothing but water encompassing me. I felt impeccably small, and for a moment, I viewed myself from a bird's eye view, staring down upon myself, just a speck of white floating in the calm sea. I abruptly came back into my body and jumped to my feet.

Departures
It was like the most lucid dream. The departure terminal of a large airport was bright and clinical; empty, with barely a soul around.

The Leveling of Humanity CH 2
Chase was ushered out of the house by Emily and brought to her familiar light blue Honda. He was surprised to see two people waiting in the back seat. There sat a girl with long dark hair, glasses, and a book in her lap. Beside her sat a guy with short blonde hair. Despite the heat, he wore a long-sleeved flannel shirt and smiled excitedly as the pair approached. They climbed into the car, and Emily immediately started the engine while gesturing to the duo in the back with her free hand.
