Have you ever had a mouth watering dish that was so savory and full of sensational flavors? These type of dishes make you want to keep eating and eating and eating. Lol. Don´t eat too much, be sure to eat in moderation.

You don´t necessarily have to be a spice or heat lover to enjoy these foods and you can definitely put as much or as little spice to your preferable liking. On the other hand if you are a ¨fiery¨ flavor connoisseur than you are in for an amazing treat with the dishes I have picked. I love these dishes for the holidays or whenever I want to spice it up.

This list that I´ve compiled for you is not like the popular everyday spicy dishes that come to mind like jerk chicken, curry shrimp or escovitch fish.

Top 5 Bold And Spicy Dishes

  • Griot
  • Pikliz
  • Jollof Rice
  • Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread
  • Spicy & Sweet Mango Slaw
  • GRIOT

A Haitian dish and one of my all time faves. Known as twice cooked pork. It is pork cut into bites (preferably pork shoulder/stew chunks) boiled then fried. It´s marinated in a zesty spicy seasoning that consists of an overnight marinade that is made by the person cooking it of course.

The ingredients include orange peels, lemon peels, red onion, thyme, maggi chicken seasoning, adobo, 1-2 scotch bonnet peppers (whatever you do remove the seeds, its where all the most spice is hidden) and a green seasoning (thyme, green peppers, onion, garlic, cilantro, olive oil, chicken bouillon cubes, lime, parsely and celery if you want.

    Pikliz

Another Haitian dish that is a shared staple in other countries (but obviously they´re called different names depending on where they originate). Known as a vegetable relish. This is more of a topper that goes on meat dishes. This is a staple in most caribbean homes.

The ingredients consist of shredded cabbage, thinly sliced carrots, red peppers, onion, pimento seeds, 2-3 scotch bonnet peppers and vinegar. The vegetables are placed in a glass jar then filled to the rim with vinegar. Allow it to sit for a few days before eating to let the peppers flavor the vegetables. After about three days enjoy with any one of your favorite dishes.

    Jollof Rice

This dish is a household staple in many African home across the entire continent but mainly West Africa. I´ve sampled Nigerian Jollof as well as Ghanian Jollof and both were delightful. Its also known as party jollof because it is the most requested dish at parties. It is the perfect amount of spice to eat with any meat dish.

The ingredients are as follows... red bell peppers, chopped tomatoes, onion, medium scotch bonnet pepper, teaspoon curry powder, salt, pepper, hot ground chile powder (or cayenne), garlic powder, onion powder, ground ginger, 2 bay leaves, 2 spoons tomato paste, dried thyme and a stock (chicken, beef or vegetable). Use vegetable oil to saute the veggies and add the water , then let it come to a boil then add the rice.

    Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread

This is a dish that fantastically compliments any meal on any given day. It is so savory and has just the right amount of flavors.

The ingredients are...your favorite box of cornbread mix, butter, eggs, chopped jalapenos, milk and cheddar cheese shredded. Coat the pan with all purpose flour. Pour the milk into the dry ingredients then mix evenly. Bake and serve warm with butter.

Once you try this cornbread you will never go back to the regular one, it definitely has no comparison. It´ll have your tastebuds singing. It´s moist, fluffy, sweet and salty and the best side dish for any holiday or Sunday dinner. This version comes second to none!

    Spicy Mango Salsa

This dish is an alternative to regular salsa or pico de gallo. It´s the perfect sweet, tangy, spicy twist to add fruits to any meal and holding it´s own in the flavor department while standing up to the rest of the food on your plate!

The ingredients include chopped mango chunks, tabasco sauce, cilantro, jalapeno chopped or tabasco sauce (whichever you prefer, I say try hot sauce first as you may opt for this version).

All of these dishes can be combined to make one whole meal if spice is your thing. otherwise you can mix it up to switch up your current everyday meals your already used to.

You will love these crowd pleasing recipes and you will have your loved ones talking about them for many years to come. Quick hint, don´t tell them it was actually you who made them. You´ll thank me later. Lol
