Pillows of Love
It was 2011, the day after my husband’s burial. The exhausting run of hospital visits, sleepless nights, hospice, and the random sandwich in a knotted stomach was over...for now. There was so much sadness, guilt, and worry that I wasn’t sure if I could bear it. There was the stress of making arrangements and stifling my grief while contending with scheduling and finances. A father and a stepdad who could not be in the same room for longer than a few minutes. Corralling my hubby’s family and updating friends. I was nothing short of a hot mess.

My Long Shot Recipe Adventure

The Sweetest of Memories
My family had an older lady in town that we cared for; she treated us as her family. Her name was Grandma T to us children. She had lost her only child and husband years before. She was among the most extraordinary people I have ever met. She was Scottish and born there. After her mother's death, she had come over with her father as a child. Since my blood grandparents were several states away, we generally celebrated with her on holidays. So, she had been taught the classic Scottish dishes and made plenty of them throughout the year. Nothing was more important than her recipe for shortbread straight out of Scotland.

New Hottest Pepper in the World Crowned, But at What Cost?
A new pepper has been crowned the hottest in the world, according to Guinness World Records. Pepper X, developed by Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company, measures in at an average of 2.69 million Scoville heat units (SHU). This makes it three times hotter than the previous record holder, the Carolina Reaper.
