My Version of a Greek Soup Fusion

By: Mariann Carroll 7/13/26

Many of my friends know, I have chronic gut issues. I try many ways to work around it. Plane liquid diets can be very boring. I try different recipes to counter or at least try to prevent my stomach issue from being so severe that I need to stay for a long duration of time in the hospital.

Today, I tried to experiment with Greek Gyro seasoning with Tzatziki powder( by Mc Cormick).  I also love Goya's Sazonador Total( The perfect Seasoning). This Goya's seasoning is perfect when I make egg salad sandwiches. My Egg Salad Sandwich tastes like it was made by a five start chef.

( I do not mean to toot my horn on my Egg Salad Sandwich because most of the seasoning is from a Goya brand, I just discovered using this seasoning to enhance

the taste and you end up wanting more.)

Note: I do not get paid for putting these seasoning brands in my recipes.

It's fun experimenting on food seasonings.  It makes me feel like a scientist.  I also share my concoction of recipes with my neighbors and family. Most of them are very honest in giving their opinions.  When I know my concoction of recipes is good. They take a taster bite and they eat the taster all up and want more.

My neighbors love my eggrolls. I know this because they asked me when I am going to make some more of them eggrolls. The eggrolls have become my signature among my neighbors.

If I am just writing about the recipe alone it will not take 600 words, so I have to put my signature spin to the recipe story.

Note: I cook and eat this soup early in the morning. It's summer so it gets hot. Today the temperature will be in the 90's. I cook around 5am before the sun comes out.

Mariann Carroll’s photo on some of the ingredients

Let's get started with the recipe, first the ingredients:

      1cup of cooked  rice

½ cup of frozen peas and carrots

¼  lbs of shredded cooked chicken breast

        Pinch of pink salt

        Half of knorr chicken cube

        2 cups of water

1 tsp of fresh cut onions

         ¼ tsp of ground oregano

1 tbsp of Goya ‘s Sazonada total

          seasoning

2tbsp of Mc Cormick's Greek Style

          with Tzatziki sauce

Total preparation is 30 minutes depending on the ingredients you use or substitute. We will use a regular sauce pan, nothing fancy. Pour the two cups of water. Add the frozen peas and carrots. Next, all the seasonings. Let it come to a boil and lower the burner to medium heat. Let it shimmer for 10 minutes then add rice and shredded cooked chicken and let it shimmer for another 10 minutes, there you have it. Thanks for stopping by my kitchen.

"Έλα να φάμε" (pronounced EH-lah nah FAH-meh). “ Let Us Eat”

I heard Mediterranean food is very healthy. To be honest the Greek seasoning was bought by me because I bought fries on one of my trips in Canada at Mc Donald ‘s. The fries had Tzatziki seasoning on it. It left a lasting expression.

The first chicken Greek Style Gyro I ate was in Rochester's Lilac Festival food tent. It was hearty and delicious.  This was before I had bowel obstruction from my surgery in 2014.

I try to make eating fun even with my health issues. I hope you try my latest recipe.
