Baked Chicken and Veggies
I tend to eat fairly simply. Making meals for my partner and me to enjoy that are also healthy. Neither of us are getting any younger and he has issues with high cholesterol. I, on the other hand, have issues with low blood pressure. Since eating healthy is good for both of us, I try to cook fairly simple meals, while making them as tasty as I can. This is a recipe I make at least once a week. Quick to prepare and cooks up in under an hour, not including prep time

Buddy Holly and Sir Cricket's
Ok, this is about food not music, though good food and music go hand-in-hand. But, just to be clear, this is a not a post about Buddy Holly, much as I love his music, ever since I first heard it, back as a kid in the late 1950s. (I mean, "Maybe Baby" is one of my all-time favorite recordings.) But I just couldn't resist using his name in a post about Sir Cricket's on the Cape (Cape Cod, Route 6, Orleans, MA). On the other hand, you will feel like rock 'n' rolling after having the fried clams, fresh tuna sandwich, fish tacos, just about anything that Sir Cricket's dishes out.

You may know me as an author of a dozen books and a writer here of science fiction and reviews about television shows and movies. People often ask me what I'm drinking when I'm writing, when I'm watching television, when I'm writing about watching television. Come to think of it, I'm drinking it right now...

Jacket (Sweet) Potatoes
One of my mother in laws recipes was a traditional British way to make a baked potato. It is a game changer. Who knew that baked potatoes could be addictive? The taste of baked potatoes when cooked this way is truly out of this world. I have made it an ungodly amount of times as it is a favourite of my partners.

Of Ice, Geese, and Carrots
We’ve been officially “ice in” at our small north Iowa lake for two weeks, but there is still a significant ‘donut hole” of open water right in the middle. When I looked out Saturday morning there were four pair of very large birds in that water and up on the edges of the ice. The males were all white and what I took to be females were smaller with more brown on their feathers. They spent about three hours swimming and diving for food before flying off.
