The Frozen Flavors of Summer
Hooray! There’s a new Vocal writing challenge. It’s about summer foods? Okay, I can do that. Oh, but it looks like the contest is in tandem with Camp Mac N’ Cheese. In fact, all entrants receive free boxes of Camp’s healthier take on the popular and nostalgic concoction.

Some More, Please!
Summer means a lot to me: swarms of bug attacks if I'm outside for longer than three seconds; sweaty as soon as I step foot outside; longer days; more reading light; open windows (until it's time for the aircon to come on); froggy pool/sprinkler time with my son; burning like a lobster if I forget the sunscreen; brushing my dog every other day and filling grocery bags with hair; and, s'mores.

"Food tastes better when you eat it with your family." I'm not really one to be posting recipes on Vocal. But, I really do love me some chips and dip. It has always been one of my favourite snacks. I know this is meant to be a post about summer, but every fond memory of summer that I have, includes dip being a part of it. Mmm, dip!
Chloe Rose Violet 🌹Published 2 years ago in FeastWe all screamed for ice cream
There is a reason to scream I scream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream! Generations of children grew up shouting this rhyme each summer as they anticipated eating their favorite treat.`Ice cream is said to have come to the United States in the 1700s and it has been a beloved dish ever since.

Summer has always brought a mix of thoughts and emotions to my head, good and bad. Childhood summers are the best, of course, long days of sun, swimming, popsicles, and play. Then, we grow up, and summer becomes a different matter. Yes, there are good things like the beach, movies, fireworks, picnics, etc. When you are an adult though, one is also faced with the responsibility of paying, cleaning up, and sitting in traffic for hours on end once all these grand events of the season are over. It’s easy to feel burnt out after the stress of organizing these events and making sure they are a success. Despite all this, there is one thing I have found enjoyment in as an adult in the summer, grilling, specifically, grilled chicken.
Homegrown Summer
June, July and August – these summer months bring the heat and the fun. The sunshine gifts longer days, temperatures rise as the sun hangs high in the sky. Opportunities to go fishing and while away the late afternoon hours. Set a cane pole and watch fireflies dance at twilight. Enjoy an ice-cold beer to quench your thirst after you mow the lawn. Enjoy another cold beer as you watch your favorite Boys of Summer baseball game. Go Braves! It’s the season for floating in swimming pools, river boat riding, and kayaking in the creek. Any water activity offers an ideal destination to beat the heat. The days when the hickory aroma of roasting meat off the neighbor’s grill makes your mouth water.

The Digital Execution team is the frat house of the Marketing department. On my side of the floor, us perfectly respectable executives and 30-something hustlers greet each other politely, then put on our noise-cancelling headphones, thank you very much.
Ooey Gooey
Summer tastes like graham crackers that spray you with crumbs when broken, like marshmallows from a freshly torn bag, like sneaking a chunk of chocolate before the real fun begins. S'Mores aren't complete, however, without their entourage; The log benches, the fire pit, and lightning bugs, all beneath the summer stars. This is the place and time where their magic takes effect and memories are forged just as S'Mores are forged in fire. Therefore, let us this night revel in decadent interlude by firelight.

April LiaoPublished 2 years ago in FeastScience may have discovered the ideal human diet.
Americans are famous for their bad eating habits. For over half a century, the so-called Western diet—one that loves meat, despises fat, and can't get enough of processed food—has dominated menus and mealtimes, becoming synonymous with obesity and metabolic dysfunction. It's difficult to imagine a more destructive attitude to eating than the one taken by many individuals in the United States.

After the rhubarb, asparagus, and salad greens of late spring, summer begins in earnest in the garden. Next in line after that trio, there are the strawberries of early summer.
