here's a recipe for making apple pie:

  • Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup ice water
  • 8 cups thinly sliced and peeled apples (Granny Smith or other tart apples work well)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar

Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the chilled butter and use a pastry blender or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together and forms a ball. Divide the dough in half and flatten each half into a disk. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Roll out one of the dough disks on a lightly floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish and trim the edges. Pour the apple mixture into the pie shell and dot with 2 tablespoons of butter.

Roll out the second dough disk and cut into strips. Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern on top of the apples. Brush the lattice with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy! #cooking #recipies

Here's a recipe for making fried chicken:

  • Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken pieces (legs, thighs, wings, or breasts)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Instructions:

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg.

Dip each chicken piece into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge it in the seasoned flour mixture until it's completely coated. Shake off any excess flour.

Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. The oil should be about 350°F (175°C) for frying.

Carefully add the chicken pieces to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the chicken for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until it's golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 165°F or 75°C).

Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the fried chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack to drain any excess oil. Let the chicken cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
