Coffee And Cake At Martha And Mary's

A Lovely Café In Heaton

Introduction

Today (10/10/26), I went for a catch-up at Vincenzo's (you can check it out here), but I was half an hour early, so I wandered down Chillingham Road looking for a coffee.

This is their Facebook page:

So, How Was My Experience?

Their cake selection

When I got to the door, I noticed the opening times were only Monday to Friday, but there were three ladies in there, and the lights were on, so I walked in and asked if they were open, pointing out that on the door it indicated they were only open Monday to Friday, and they said this was their first Saturday opening and I was their first Saturday customer.

I asked if they could do an oat milk latte, and the Coffee Cake looked incredibly tempting, so obviously I gave in. As you can see, the cake was quickly scoffed and enjoyed by me.

We chatted, and I was told this was started as a community place sponsored by four churches but has become a community hub for the people of Heaton. I noticed books and cards, and they obviously do soup as well.

I showed them a copy of the book I created with Angie Livingstone, which was for Mick and Aly, and they all thought it was beautiful.

I told them about the Methodist Church I visit for coffee in Preston which resulted in this poem, which has a link to the church.

Conclusion

I had a lovely half hour in Martha and Mary's and will definitely be dropping in again. If you are ever in the vicinity, you should try it.

The music is "The Coffe Song" by, appropriately, Cream.
