1. Moscow Mule
INGREDIENTS
Ice
2 oz. vodka
1 oz. fresh lime juice
1 oz. (12-oz.) can ginger beer
Fresh mint, for garnish
Lime wedges, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Fill two copper mugs with ice. Pour 1 ounce vodka and 1/2 ounce lime juice over ice in each mug. Pour ginger beer into each cup until mostly full. Stir.
Garnish with mint and lime wedge to serve.
2. Brown Sugar Old Fashioned
INGREDIENTS
1 tsp. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. water
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 oz. bourbon
Ice
Orange peel, for garnish
Cinnamon stick, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Add sugar, water, and bitters to glass. Muddle until sugar is dissolved. Add bourbon and ice and stir to combine.
Garnish with an orange peel and cinnamon stick.
3. Classic Manhattan
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. bourbon
1 oz. vermouth
Ice
1 maraschino cherry (preferably Luxardo)
Bitters
DIRECTIONS
Combine bourbon, vermouth, and ice in a mixing glass. Stir until well-chilled.
Strain into a preferably frosty coupe. Garnish with a cherry and a few dashes of your favorite bitters.
4. Perfect Cosmopolitan
INGREDIENTS
4 oz. citrus vodka
2 oz. Cointreau
2 oz. cranberry juice
Juice of 1/2 lime
Ice
Lime wedge, for garnish
Cranberries, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Add vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake until well chilled.
Strain drink into a martini glasses and garnish with a lime wedge and cranberries.
5. Classic Vodka Martini
INGREDIENTS
Ice
2 1/2 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. dry vermouth
Green olive or strip lemon zest removed with a peeler, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Optional: Freeze martini glass 15 minutes before making the drink.
For a shaken martini: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka and vermouth and shake until well chilled. Strain into a martini glass, garnish with olive or lemon peel, and serve.
For a stirred martini: Pour the vodka and vermouth into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice. Stir vigorously, about 20 seconds, until well chilled. Strain into a martini glass, garnish with olive or lemon peel and serve.
6. Mojito
INGREDIENTS
10 to 12 mint leaves, plus more for garnish
2 oz. light rum
1 oz. lime juice
1/2 oz. simple syrup
Soda water
DIRECTIONS
Add mint, rum, lime juice, and simple syrup to a Collins glass. Gently muddle the mint leaves for 15 to 20 seconds; do not break the leaves.
Fill the glass with ice and top off with soda. Stir the drink slightly, garnish with a sprig of mint and serve.
7. Dill Pickle Bloody Mary
INGREDIENTS
4 cornichons (mini pickles), plus juice from jar
2 c. tomato juice
8 oz. vodka
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. horseradish
2 tsp. hot sauce (such as Tabasco)
Juice of 1/2 a lemon, plus wedge for rimming
Freshly ground black pepper
3 tbsp. kosher salt
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 celery stalks, halved, for garnish
4 stalks dill, for garnish
4 Lemon wedges, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Fill an ice tray with pickle juice and freeze for 6 hours, or until frozen.
In a large pitcher, combine tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire, horseradish, hot sauce, lemon juice, and pepper.
On a small plate, stir together salt and chili powder.
Run a lemon wedge around the rim of glasses and dip them in the salt mixture.
Add pickle cubes to the glasses and fill with Bloody Mary mixture.
Garnish with celery, dill, mini pickles, and a lemon wedge.
8. French 75
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 oz. gin
3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
3/4 oz. simple syrup
3 to 4 oz Champagne or other sparkling wine
1 Lemon peel, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker filled with ice. Shake until completely chilled then strain into a champagne flute. Top with Champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
