The Story Behind Native Son
This is a story that depicts racism about a young black man living in poverty with his family. He gets a job as a driver for a rich white family until he accidentally murders a white woman. Native Son, written by Richard Wright and published in 1940, is one of the most influential novels in American literature. The novel explores the harsh realities of racism, poverty, and social inequality in the United States during the early twentieth century. Through the tragic story of Bigger Thomas, Wright examines how systemic oppression shapes the thoughts, actions, and fate of African Americans living in a deeply segregated society. The novel remains significant because of its powerful social criticism and its psychological portrayal of a young man trapped by fear and hopelessness.

Get Paid to Read Books
Simple question... do you enjoy reading? If the answer is yes or even "it's okay" then I have great news for you. Yes, you can actually get paid to read. Will you get rich or replace your main income source? Nope. The pay ranges from around $2.20 per book to around $4.00 per book. Also, you can only read 5 books a week. Now, having said that... trust me, it adds up quickly. I've been using the platform for a little over a month, in addition to doing a bunch of other stuff and not devoting much time to the platform, and so far I've made $91.40 total.

A DOLL'S HOUSE — She Was Done Being The Doll:
There is a moment near the end of A Doll's House that stopped the world cold when it first happened. A woman named Nora Helmer picks up her coat, looks her husband in the eye, and walks out of her marriage. She does not scream. She does not cry. She does not beg for permission or apologize for leaving. She simply goes. And then the door slams shut behind her.

The Book Club Novel Is Having a Quiet Revolution, and Nobody Is Talking About It
There is a particular kind of novel that gets described, in publishing circles, as "book club fiction." The phrase is used with a certain condescension — it suggests a novel that is accessible, emotionally satisfying, and perhaps a little lightweight, designed to generate discussion rather than literary prestige. Think of the oversized contemporaries that dominate airport bookstores, the novels with warm covers and family sagas that generate predictable but pleasant conversation at monthly meetings.

Andreas Szakacs on Michael: Becoming the Legend Through an Actor’s Lens
Michael belongs somewhere in between — not quite a reinvention of the biopic, but not merely a retelling either. As an actor, I didn’t approach this film looking for facts. I approached it looking for truth. And that distinction matters.

"Igi" by Jemal Karchkhadze. Top Story - April 2026.
I don't remember when I last read a short book packed with deep philosophical meaning. Perhaps Camus' "Stranger" or Nietzsche's "God is Dead" back in my university years. Igi will stay with me for a long time, I'm sure.
