Toxic Beauty Treatments from the Past
Although beauty standards across time and space may differ drastically, every culture at every time has held some beliefs and practices regarding beauty. And while standards and preferences may change, even to their own opposites, one thing remains the same: people are willing to do some crazy things in the name of beauty. From leeches to lead, nightshade to radiation poisoning, toxic beauty treatments have been a health hazard to women - and men - for eons. And don't think just because we're in the 21st century now, that personal care products don't still sometimes have dangerous long-term effects...

Disclaimer: Information was gathered via trendmood, indiemakeupspotlight, and Indvidual brands’ social media and web shops. If links are missing for some, then the palettes still have not been released on online stores. I was going to write a whole article about colourpop’s collaboration with Disney, but I got lazy. But it’s on number 11 and a bit long. I skim edit rarely, so mistakes are likely.

Everyone has wanted to dye their own hair at least once. And it's a completely reasonable desire; hair salons are expensive and time consuming and it's a pain to go back every other month. Liz ShannonPublished 6 years ago in BlushMakeup Bag Tips for Beginners
Growing up, I went through an “awkward makeup” stage. I knew how to apply makeup from watching my mother when I was a child, but when it came to actually buying my own I didn’t have a clue. I started wearing makeup regularly in high school, and I was a big fan of the alternative scene. At first my mother didn’t approve of dark or heavy makeup, so I had a blue eyeliner pencil I bought at a dollar store, a tube of mascara I got from her, and a tube of concealer I bought myself at the store. Thankfully after becoming interested in YouTube makeup tutorials, I began to figure out more on what I needed to complete a look for the day. Now that I’ve been a makeup wearer for at least a decade, I think it’s time I share what I’ve learned from my trials and errors at the beauty counter and share what should be in your first makeup bag.

Disclaimer: Bleh. 1. Cherry Blossom Palette by KKW Beauty Buy here. One, I don’t see any popping cherry blossom shades in there. Two, what’s with the non-pinkish or non-whitish packaging? Three, not for me and that sucks because cherry blossoms are so my aesthetic.

The Double Edged Sword: Dry and Oily Skin
I know the struggle all too well. The bridge of my nose would be flaky at the same time pimples would be cropping up on my forehead from my forehead being too oily. Around I went in the vicious skincare cycle, adding astringents and drying agents to my face to get rid of the pimples and then adding oils to my face for the dry spots. It's a never-ending battle for people who have both skin types.
