Immortals
Today one of the albums I played while working was “The North Star Grassman and The Ravens” by Sandy Denny who we lost when she fell in 1978 at the age of 31, less than half my age. And I was listening to this wonderful music more than forty years after she had left this plane. I have chosen her most beautiful song to lead this piece , but this is just one of many songs.

My grandson knew I like to write and he asked that I write him a rap song. I thought to myself, why not? And I started by asking him a few questions as I already knew many things about him to put in a song.

Words of wisdom from the female bassist of controversial band Mindless Self Indulgence, Lyn-z Way. Not only is she an excellent performer, she's also a versatile visual artist with an endless imagination. Many recognize her talents, having collaborated with fellow artist such as Francis Bean Cobain. Their exhibit Ghost For Sale sold out. Both producing enchanting yet relatable works of art. Then, of course, her most epic collaboration yet; marrying Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance.

I have always been a person who overshares. I used to believe it was a flaw because I could not stop blurting out random conversations or factoids about myself. What can I say? I'm quirky? Sure, we will go with that. Oversharing became a way for people to connect with me, and understand the “why” that comes from many of my choices. My transparency helped pave the way for a safe space to shed all that doesn't serve me.
TwoZero
TwoZero I can’t remember the last time I was in a dimly lit space filled with heavy rhythmic sounds; coupled with deep bass jungle vibes, sweat running off my fingertips, and holding space among a sea of liked minded clubbers. Well, I lied. It was in my twenties. It’s been awhile. Those clubbing moments brought “Love & Happiness”- where friends were family.
When she passed you by; a playlist to get you out again
“Miss Celie’s Blues” Purple flowers and a deep sadness pervades the days of Celie, who is trapped in relationship after relationship that tears her down, emotionally and physically. Her sister, the only person she truly connected with, and whom loves her so much back, was also torn away from her as well. Even her sister’s letters are kept from Celie, by her angry and ill-tempered husband only known to her as “Mister”.

I hope you see, you've left a mark on me, and if you leave, you'll take a part of me These were the words that poured out of me in the form of a song while I was hunched over my guitar, trying to make some kind of sense of the news I had just received. No one prepares you for grief like that, no one tells you how to say goodbye to someone who is on the brink of death. As I searched my brain for the right words to express my love and grief without making the potential goodbye self-centered, I wondered how many other people had been in this exact same position at some point in life. How many other people had sat helpless wanting to tell someone that they mean the world to them, but knowing that the one that they love is in absolute agony? How do you even begin to process that level of heartache? I couldn't find the right words to say, so in the quiet of my room, I picked up my guitar and I sang.
Brittany FenwickPublished 3 years ago in BeatThe heart of my passions
The heart of my passion. I have a number of loves and likes, from art and crafts, to writing and music. I like to combine them into one focus, where I can see them all together … on my website. It's where I can be me. It doesn't do anything or go anywhere, it's just my place to vent if I need to. I blog, connect music links (recommended listening) and write. Its so easy and satisfying, you can be who you want when you want.

The colors of gray asexuality are black, white, gray, and purple. Finding this identity and embracing myself has been a very long, but extremely cathartic journey.
Kyra LopezPublished 3 years ago in BeatMusic - A peace of mind
Music has an extraordinary power to stimulate our emotions and stimulate our memories. I guess music's been a stimulant of choice for me because I always feel so much better and energetic and energized when I sing a song or play in a band. And those of you out there who have sung in choirs or play a musical instrument I'm sure can identify with that feeling: you get a kind of rewarding, even addictive, response. It is just amazing. And when you hear music that you like, you want to move, you want to maybe get up and dance, or tap your feet or your fingers. Music also affects us at the biological level. Internally, it can affect blood pressure, heart rate, hormones; externally, it can affect us, give us goose bumps or spine-tingling chills, or can drive us to tears.
Sumesh BhailaPublished 3 years ago in Beat3 Reasons Why You Should Not Sing Your Own Praise
Being by nature quite a modest, conservative sort of person, I have always held back from being in any way boastful about any achievements I might have. Far too often I have seen other peoples' reactions to boasting. In fact, more than once I have held back saying anything about doing something worthy of attention only to see somebody try to claim credit for what I did.
Adam EvansonPublished 3 years ago in BeatDrum Roll, Please...
Compassion by definition is “sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.”( - Oxford Dictionary) However, we could get more mileage out of such a powerful word if we expand the meaning of the word into the things we feel passionate, enthusiastic about. The things that bring us joy, motivate and excite us. I want to distinguish this feeling from living vicariously from another’s experience since that feels like something that is not earned. I’m talking about a thought fullness and heart fullness that happens among strangers and friends when we allow ourselves to feel what others are feeling.
