What is the purpose of music? Many ask this question, yet the fact is music has been used throughout history to express everything from joy to sadness, melancholy to anger, and from one emotion to another. Yet the only one of which one can imagine music conveying such strong expression in a musical instrument is the human heart itself. The heart has all the other nuances that make up the totality of music.

But beyond all else there is also the universal nature of music. It conveys emotion in a way that is beyond the expression of any emotion on earth. Music is so much more than a part of the human existence. It is a reflection of the universal nature of human beings. What is music? Simply put music is the human being expressing the spiritual essence of who he is and what he is all about.

Music is a celebration of life and love, and the life-giving power of God. It is a powerful expression of all that is good about life. It is the human being expressing that which is not expressed in words. It is the expression of a feeling which cannot be expressed in words. It is what it is; it is a deeply felt feeling which cannot be expressed in words. It expresses that which cannot be expressed into another language. Music is what it is.

Music is the expression of the human spirit. A human being’s spirit is a fundamental part of who he is. When a person has a broken heart it is the spirit of music that he needs to hear. When a person is troubled by the state of his world it is the spirit of music that he needs to turn to.

Music is the expression of the human soul. It can teach, it can enlighten, it can unite, it can entertain, it can lead us to joy, it can uplift the spirit and strengthen the human spirit.
