It's not Halloween without haunted houses, witches, ghosts and great music!

It's that time of the year again and folks are gearing up for a ghoulish time with their favorite ghosts, goblins, and witches at the only place to be on All Hallow's Eve, the Halloween Office Party. Since it's the party of the season, selecting the right music is too important to rely on what you might find on the local radio station or what they sell down at the costume shop. You are in charge of the music so it's important to bring your 'A' game and what better way to open a party than with a Halloween favorite from Hocus Pocus. The song, I Put A Spell On You performed by Bette Midler is enough to get anyone in the dancing move and if you're not careful, you might just not stop...dancing that is.

Now that your blood is pumping and your legs are too tired to let you run away, Sheb Wooley has a song for you that will surely have you avoiding the outdoors on Halloween night. The Purple People Eater describes a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater with an appetite for folks who like to dress up on All Hallow's Eve.

Of course, now that you've found your groove, let's crank it up a notch and see if you can run with the big uh, errrr....chipmunks! That's right! Alvin and the Chipmunks bring Halloween like no other group can with their version of Witch Doctor.

Let's slow it down a little and give that old heart of yours a rest. Grab your partner and pull them in close...closer...closer. There, good. Now you're ready for some Bobby Bare and Marie LaVeau.

Alrighty, now it's time for some more fun. Get in a line and let's get this party train to moving with an all-time favorite from Beetlejuice. Shake Senora and Jump In The Line...shake shake shake Senora!

Since we have Beetlejuice on everyone's mind and we've already mentioned his name twice, what's the harm in saying it one more time? Beetlejuice! Oh no...no...no! Enjoy Day-O, the Banana Boat Song!

Now that we are all warmed up, let's get a classic out for those who thought we were going to skip it. You know, it's been said it's not cool to skip the old school. Without further adieu, the classic hit from Halloween 1964, Mister Bobby Pickett with Monster Mash.

Let's experiment! What's a party without the wild technical music of Oingo Bongo, Kelly LeBrock, and Weird Science? If you've never experienced this, I apologize. Not everyone was a child of the 80s and could enjoy such awesomeness. Fortunately, technology allows us to bring it from our hearts and hands and put it in front of us, so people can understand.

Santana is known for putting some of the best music in the world out for just listening to, but did you know he's got one Halloween song that you can dance to? That's right and it'll mesmerize and haunt you if you let it. Grab your partner, scope out a place on the dance floor and get lost in Santana, and never turn your back on Black Magic Woman.

So far, we've focused on monsters and witches, but Halloween isn't complete without werewolves, right? Fortunately, Warren Zevon tells us all about them in his hit, Werewolves of London. Don't forget your silver bullet and garlic.

Okay, by now you're wondering when am I gonna lay some Michael Jackson on you. I'm not! I'm conflicted about this and after all, this is a challenge and how challenging is it to go to Michael's collection and find his scary songs? I mean there are so many like Ghosts, Is it Scary, Thriller, A Nightmare on My Street, Somebody's Watching Me, Halloween, and Morphine.

Instead, I wanted to bring some music to the playlist that maybe you hadn't heard before or had forgotten. This is why I now present to you one of the best Halloween dance songs I ever heard and one that is at the top of my personal playlist. It's written and performed by none other than the man himself, Stevie Wonder and the name of the song is Superstition. Enjoy!

If you've made it this far, and I trust you have if you are serious about this challenge, I've saved the best album and song for last. Way back in 1976, a German band called themselves The Alan Parsons Project. They quickly burst onto the music scene then just as quickly disappeared. Their all-time best-selling album was aptly titled Tales of Mystery and Imagination Edgar Allan Poe and the number one song on that album was The Raven. Their music was trendsetting and has never been duplicated since. I encourage anyone who has read this far to listen to The Raven, and if you like it, get the album and listen to the other stories by Edgar Allan Poe they converted into music. It's just that good!

This is a wrap. I've presented to you my top twelve songs for my Halloween playlist. Some you recognized, some you remembered, and at least one you may never have heard of before. If you like music as much as I do, I hope you enjoyed this playlist and will consider playing some of these songs at your Halloween party. Remember, wherever you party at and no matter how much fun you have, do so responsibly and make it home safely. I don't have that many readers and even fewer subscribers. I cannot afford to lose any more. Happy Halloween!
