A Crusade of Enlightenment
And remember, whatever explanation they offer, don't believe them. They've been lying to us for years. Keep your eyes open always and you will see that the truth is right in front of you. Right in front of your face! And never forget, they are always watching and listening...

Royal Flush
All bets in! Clifton Wilde was having a night like none that he'd ever had before and the pile of chips that lay in front of him was irrefutable proof. There was fifteen thousand dollars worth of chips in his possession and Clifton's fortune showed no indication of reversing. This latest hand added another small amount to the pile; the amounts had been getting smaller and smaller as the other players began to play more carefully, not daring to bet too much against Clifton's winning streak.

The Truth Bound in Leather
As Erin left the courthouse and walked to her car, a tempest of various emotions began to overwhelm her. It was finally over. It was the end of an era, a new beginning that was both relieving and a little scary all at once. At the same time it was heartbreaking. How could a marriage that had started so beautifully and in such a perfect way, end with such bitterness and feelings of betrayal?

My Favorite Guilty Pleasure
First of all, I must say that although I am really fascinated with Japanese culture, I'm not really an anime fan. I have nothing against it; in fact I can appreciate the genre as an art form, but I'm not all that into it. This show, however, had me hooked by the time I had watched three episodes and I was able to finish the series in two sittings across two days. I liked it so much that I binged it before I even had access to the English version, so I had to give it my full attention in order to read the subtitles. Once I finished watching the show, I found myself emotionally affected by the twists and turns of the story, and the first thing that I did was share it with my best friend. To this day, we still sometimes talk about how the story is such a parallel for my own life.

The Revealing
Henry Casille was walking down the street on his way to the park as was common for any pleasant spring morning in the quaint little community he lived in. It was important for him to get his exercise or at least that's what he was told at his last wellness checkup. As his phone vibrated, he reached into his pocket to examine it, all without stopping, to see that the message was from his wife, Mara. They had just celebrated their golden anniversary and were honored with a surprise party by their children and grandchildren. Henry smiled as he returned his phone to his pocket. Such a simple endearing text was typical of her, and it was consistent with the loving and loyal aspects of her character that he had enjoyed for all these years.

A Happy Beginning : Another Guilty Pleasure
Of all the shows that I have ever binge watched on Netflix, there is one that I have watched so many times that I can almost recite the script. Once Upon a Time, the new age spin on just about anything and everything Disney, has captivated my attention and heart for more self indulgent unproductive hours than I care to admit. It's embarassing to admit how its emotional love stories and satisfying character arcs have often caused my eyes to glaze over as I find myself empathizing with the many different villains and rooting for the unlikely heroes.

My closet soap addiction
I can't believe I'm about to admit this, but why not? Here it goes. I love Days of our Lives and I have for over twenty years. Go ahead and laugh, giggle, snicker, or whatever else floats your boat. I can't help it. From the days of setting programs on the VCR to record it while I was in high school, to watching it on Sprint TV when I didn't have cable, to streaming it from Peacock as I do now, the show has long since been a welcome escape from a stressful reality.

An Egyptian Find
I can't believe you! You're such a hypocrite! These words resounded in Brent's mind as sipped his morning coffee and began to scroll through the emails on his phone. They were the words that his son had shouted at him during the last weekend that they had spent together. Brent knew that he and his ex-wife would soon need to meet and talk concerning their son, and how to approach this sudden negative attitude that he had adopted towards... everything.

An unsung song
Abigail peered around at the seemingly endless task that was set before her. It had been two weeks since she had received the news that her father had died, and as his only heir, she stood in his house as the one who was responsible for removing his possessions so that the owner could replace him with a new tenant. This was the last chore that she had to do, since the funeral was already over and she had closed his one bank account and collected the nearly ten dollars that it contained.

Manuscript of Epiphany
The endless silence that permeated through his living room sent a cold chill through Don's heart as he gazed upon the woman that he loved with an unyielding passion. Helen was his bride to be, the only woman who could ever have inspired such commitment from a man who had previously been known for his shallow and fleeting encounters. I've really done it this time, Don thought as he chuckled inside his mind. He knew that this would blow over, but he wished that he could navigate this minefield with Helen more skillfully. "I've got to go to work, Helen. I love you." Carefully, he made his way closer and kissed his fiance before he opened the front door and drove himself to work.

The Black Notebook
The sun was shining a little bit brighter today than usual. Some unexpected news had restored hope in a man's heart and a belief that the many challenges that he faced could have a solution. Alan was driving to an attorney's office to respond to a e-mail that he had received the day before. The e-mail contained a summons to a will reading that pertained to the estate of Alan's great uncle that had passed away. Alan was surprised to have received the e-mail considering that it had been so long since he passed. He had not seen him in years, and by the time he found out, the funeral had already taken place. Alan wondered if he would have attended had he known, and guilt began to settle on his conscience as he anxiously considered what this man could have left for him.
