My Best Nightmare
My Best Nightmare I turned to run from the dryer as the door slammed open on its own but it felt like I had slammed into an invisible wall of wet cement. The creature was enclosing behind me, I couldn't see it either but it's presence was unmistakable. Fighting against the heavy feeling, I struggled to get to the toilet in the corner. I was in my childhood bedroom in the basement, no idea how or why I was there but I had little time to think about it either. This creature plagued my dreams as a child, now it was back to finish me. Pushing a little harder, I stretched my fingers out, willing them to be longer. An eerie green glow spread like wildfire, I didn't dare look back in fear of seizing up in fear. Just a little bit more...

The Boathouse
The door banged loudly as Molly threw the door open with all of her might, intensified with her rage. Pauline was her sister, not her mother. She had no right to decide what was best for her and she didn't have any right to throw away all of her clothes and replace them with bright and frilly things. Like this appalling bright yellow dress, she was forced to wear today, yuck!

Simba and Binx
My wife and I have two cats, Simba and Binx. I got Simba about five years ago, a mewing little fur ball that was malnourished. Simba started affectionate towards people but as he grew older he became more and more distrustful of strangers. I attribute that to how his life started and could very well have ended, but I can't say for sure. When I picked up Simba to take home, I was watching my sister's cat Ninja. Ninja was a big black cat, very affectionate, and wasn't bothered by Simba as I was expecting but he did try sniffing Simba at first. Simba put up with it until he got to the base of his tail and then he turned around and “slapped” Ninja in the face. The look on both of their faces cracked me up so hard! Ninja and this tiny brown and black striped kitten competed for my lap too, they both wanted my full attention.

The Tale of Hiroshi
Hiroshi peeked out of the hole from behind a board in the storage hut, checking to make certain the coast was clear before leaving his current living quarters. While it wasn't the most comfortable of locations, it was warm and dry against the spring rains. Hiroshi adjusted his stolen robes that were a little big for him and made his way to the river that ran just outside of the sleepy village. Kneeling beside the river, the boy scooped the clear water up in his hands to wash his hands, face, and neck before drinking his fill. Standing and stretching, Hiroshi turned to look at the castle that sat on the hill.

The Fall of Kardune
In the peaceful kingdom of Kardune, the great king Cadeyrn and his queen Camilla prepared to welcome their child into the world on a dark and cold winter night. The castle was caught in a whirlwind of activity as the maids scurried to gather bedding, water, and other things they needed for safe delivery. The king paced back and forth in front of the bed-chamber door, anxiously awaiting news of his beloved and his heir. The door burst open, Cadeyrn snapped his head up as the harried midwife hurried out, muttering to herself and shaking her head about madly as she went. With growing concern, King Cadeyrn rushed into the chamber to find his wife cradling not one, but two boys. One had shining blonde hair and the other had hair as black as coal.

The Pit
The Pit "This way! This way!" Hissed the guide covered from head to toe in crimson robes that almost blended in with the light from the torch he waved about in front of him as he leads his five charges deeper into the cave. Stopping abruptly at the mouth of a spacious cavern beyond, the guide spun on his heel to face us. "Last chance to back down. Once you pass this threshold, it's not just a matter of life and death you should be concerned with, but your very existence. So few are about to make it out again, most just become lunch for the horrors. It's gotten worse in recent years, you lot with your fancy guns and cell phones, you have no clue what you're up against."
