The Vengeful Spirit
I stared in horror as the beautiful woman with skin as white as freshly fallen snow before me began to shift and change, her appearance becoming more grotesque with each passing moment. Her long, graceful fingers had become elongated and her nails had become knives. Her long, black, sleek hair unfolded itself from the ornamental hair stick made of ivory that held it in a tight bun and started going in every direction as if she were immersed in water. Even her traditional silk hanbok started to rip and decay as she stood there trembling in hatred and anger. She stabbed my chest with her fingers, pulling me in closer to look straight into the endless void of her eyes. Smiling with satisfaction, she stabbed me in the forehead with her other hand. I expected things to go dark, for my life to end. Things went dark very briefly, but in a flash of bright light, I was standing in a rice field. Looking around, things are very surreal, blurry around the edges. Everything except the small farmhouse, in front of me, that stood out very solid and clear. The house stood a few yards away, made from what looked like clay and thatch for the roof. An unseen force shoved me forward, like a wall closing in behind me. I hustle a bit to get away from the feeling, I cautiously approach the little house. A man in fine silk clothing stormed out the door as I drew close to the entrance, not paying attention to me at all. The invisible force hit me and projected me into the house, I land on my back in the middle of the living room. Rolling over with a groan, I quickly flattened myself as a panel of the floor flew at me, crashing into the wall. Looking down into the hole, I see a lone candle sitting on a small table, the rest of the room is shrouded in darkness. Knowing that I wouldn't have a choice, I dropped down and approached the table. There was a news article clipping, at first it was in a language that I couldn't read, but as I scanned the article the words flashed into English.

My Special Friends
Once upon a time, not very long ago, there was a man living life as best as he knew how. One day, while on his evening stroll through the park, he came across a door. An impossible door, it was there but not at the same time. It was solid gold, adorned with precious gems in familiar patterns. There were suns of rubies, stars of diamonds, moons of sapphires. Even as the man stood there staring, the door flickered like a flame on a candle, wavering but not ceasing. Cautiously, he reached for the amethyst doorknob and gave it a turn. The man was yanked inside the door by an invisible force and he found himself in a quiet sunlit meadow with various colored flowers dotting the area. Looking about, he saw no door. How was he supposed to get home? Where was he now?

The Journey of the Phoenix
Once upon a time, a great many years ago, there was a man who loved music. He loved making music, he loved listening to old songs and new songs. The man preferred staying home and working on his music rather than going out and being social. "Man, I wish I could go somewhere where I could work on my music and not be bothered so much by time and people." The man said as his phone started ringing, his manager again likely wanting an update on his current work. Hitting the ignore button, the man went to the fridge to get a snack, but the door wasn't the off white fridge door he had opened so many times before. It was an ornate golden door with sapphires, rubies, and diamonds. The knob was made from amethyst. "I must be working too hard," the man said, shaking his head. Opening the door, there was a sudden flash of light and the man found himself standing in a warm pool of water. There were two small waterfalls twice his height leading into the pool, steam rising from the base. Looking at himself, he found that he had become some kind of bird, silver-white.

The Playground
Adrian stumbled through the streets, tired and hungry as he ever was. He longed for the days when his life wasn't in shambles and had meaning. It's been a year since the day he lost his job, six months since Lauren left him with little Cindy to go live with her mother. The bank repossessed the house three months ago and he has been living rough on the streets ever since. Adrian tried his best to find new employment, the only skills he had was making horseshoes but those weren't needed on these new-fangled automobiles. Tripping on an unseen stone, Adrian landed face first in a mud puddle. Sputtering and shaking his head as he climbed to his knees, Adrian spotted a small black notebook lying in front of the puddle oddly clean and dry in comparison to the dingy alley behind the shops where Adrian had gone in search of food.

The Story of Serah and Garonx
I wake up with a start, staring into the darkness that might as well be the void. Something disturbed my slumber, what could it have been? Slowly I stretch my limbs, the soft clink of gold coins as the tumbledown around me echoes around my chamber. I pause, listening hard for the ragged breathing of the terrified intruder that might be. There! In the corner, I can hear the soft trembling whimpers of an invader! Inhaling deeply, I light the deadwood I have stocked up in the corners with my fire, then turning my bright emerald green eyes to the invader, I see it's a young human child. I lean in closely, smelling the fear roll of this youngling. She, for I can determine it is a female child, is dressed in what I presume to be a dirty pale gray nightshirt with bare feet. Her tear-stained face is staring up at me in terrified silence under a mess of tangled dark brown hair.
