Oliver and Zip
Foreword: The following story was written using the titles of songs, a section of the story was written after a song was chosen based entirely on the title. The choices were presented to someone I will always regard as a friend, I am thankful they played along and helped me write this tale with each choice they made. A few edits were made, but I am now proud to present this story to you, the reader.

The Journey Home
The waves lapped against the pier as I stared into the dark water, I didn't want to leave Dublin but Father decided it would be for the best. I knew it was difficult for my folks to find work, I would lay awake and eavesdrop on their discussions. The decision to emigrate was made months ago, our money was scrimped and saved to purchase the tickets for a ship. Leaving my grandmother behind was the hardest thing for me to accept. “Liam,” she rasped to me as the tears streamed down my face, “be a good boy. Help your Mam and Da as much as you can. I can't make this journey, but I feel that you will do great things in America.” That was the last thing she said before kissing my forehead and turning towards the window in her wheelchair. I turned back one last time at the door to say goodbye, but the words got stuck in my throat. Grandma had turned to watch me go, her wrinkled face forced into a smile but her blue eyes betrayed her. They had a sadness to them, a deep sadness that spoke deeper than words ever could express. I stood in that doorway for a long moment, memorizing every line on her hands and face, her wispy iron-gray hair pulled back into a low ponytail at the nape of her neck. Tears welled up in my eyes and I ran to her again, hugging her tightly. We stayed like that for a while before she gently pushed me away, her unwanted tears flowing now. She stroked my cheek gently and motioned for me to go.

The Bridgerton Murders
To my family: If you lived, died or killed someone in this fictional story, just know you are loved in our reality, 'Kay? The wind blew softly, whistling through the leaves of trees that lined the darkened street as I hurried home from the library. “Cut it out, guys!” I look to my right at the neighbor's house to see two of the younger children crouched on the roof near an open window where a young boy was yelling at them, a ladder placed against the house. With a sigh, I round the corner and start walking up the steps but I pause on the porch. Someone had left their backpack here, its contents spilling everywhere but a book caught my attention. 'The Bridgerton Murders' was the title. The cover depicted a woman's body sprawled out in a hall, it looked oddly familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. Feeling unnerved, I shrugged and walked inside before I stopped dead in my tracks. I let my bag drop where I stood, I could hear laughter and the sounds of cooking coming from the Kitchen.

Dear Ash
Hey Ash, how are you? It's funny, I write those same words every day I write you a message for Sound K, but I mean them every time. I want to know how you are, what you think, what you know, what you dream of. Can you believe it's been over three years since I stumbled upon Sound K? Almost four years since you took the DJ seat, I wonder if you have any regrets about it. I hope not, I can't imagine anyone better for the job than you. I mean, you are super kind and caring, you put people at ease just by talking to them and you are always super supportive of us. I know you aren't likely to respond to this letter, I am not expecting a response but I hope to express my gratitude for you with it anyway.

The Vagabond
Fredrick could hear the hunter stealthily crunching twigs and leaves underfoot, this one was young and inexperienced. Sighing, Fredrick turned and went deeper into the woods. He needed food, but he couldn't risk going to town knowing a hunter was so close. It didn't matter if he was only hunting rabbits, if the hunter discovered Fredrick's camp it would mean trouble. Settling down in his hammock, Fredrick fell into an uneasy sleep in the mid-morning fog.

Mini Story Collection Part 1
Foreword The following is part one of three of a collection of mini-stories I have written to request songs to be played on the English-speaking program of Arirang Radio, Sound K. Sound K is a Korean hip-hop program that I have been listening to for almost four years at the time this has been published. Sound K is like a family, welcoming to all while being loving and encouraging to everyone. This collection is dedicated to all of the staff who works so hard to bring us the programming, DJ Ashley, the weekly guests who are still with the show as well as those who have gone to pursue other opportunities, and my fellow listeners. Every story is based on a song title, not the song itself and a few of the stories use actual names of people associated with Sound K. Each story is marked with the date it was requested and the song it is based on followed by the story. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them, they have been touched up slightly for punctuation and spelling. If anyone is interested, you can tune into Sound K from 8 pm-10 pm Korean Standard Time (KST) daily via the Arirang radio app for mobile, Ariring Radio Youtube live stream, or channel 144 on Sirius XM. Arirang radio had programming running 24/7.

The World Of Purple Mist
As I walked down the sunlit country road on a beautiful spring day towards the creek I liked to spend my Sunday afternoons the world suddenly turned a strange shade of violet with black shadow swirls dancing all around me. A woman appeared a short way in front of me, her blueish skin complimenting her black dress and sun hat well. At first, she was staring intently at the ground, as if nauseous or fascinated by something there. She slowly raised her head to look at me, a sinister smile crossed her face. The woman appeared to fall back into the swirling misty purple haze and vanished in a blink.

The Island
Adam sighed deeply as he leaned over the balcony railing to stare at the setting sun over the ocean while he reflected upon the day. It had been ten years since he came to live on the island of Hollowhaven to be with his wife Iris, living here has been a sort of dream for Adam. After finishing medical school, Adam tried working in a few hospitals but the rules imposed were too strict for his tastes. Adam wanted to have the ability to relate to his patients, not just set their broken bones. Adam scrimped and saved to open his clinic, Iris contributed to the funds as much as possible too.

The House
My wife and I had decided it was time for a change. We drove to a new town a few hours away to look at a house that we had seen advertised for sale, but it didn't suit our needs. We decided to look around the town for other opportunities; it seemed like a nice quiet town. Spotting an older-looking man in a tan overcoat hammering a sign into the ground, we thought to take a look. As we drove slowly past the house, I peered out my window to catch all of the details. A tall oak stood proudly with a wooden swing swaying in the wind from one of its branches while the red and yellow leaves danced in swirling motions.

My Adventure Under The Sea
Adventures under the Sea As I sat on the white sand beach, staring at the crystal blue water of the ocean where it meets the horizon at the point when the sapphire waves turned to a soft but vibrant dusty baby blue with puffy clouds of various shapes floating lazily in the sky. My mind began to wander through some of life's mysteries and absurdities as I half dozed in the warm midday sun and gentle breeze. What lies beneath the glass surface of these waves? Fish and other marine life were a given but what if there was an entire civilization down there, living under a dome or something? Would they be friendly? Would they be grotesque with sharp fangs and claws?
