Make More Mistakes
Have you made many mistakes in your life? One can argue that, if you have not made any mistakes, you are not really living. We have all made mistakes. Humans beings are imperfect by design. But that's what makes us beautiful. That's what makes us awesome. If we were all perfect, would life be as exciting?

The Sacrifice For Your Dream
I heard a quote this year that changed my whole life. It was a quote I could have overlooked. One that I might have ignored or glanced over in younger days. When I read this quote, it all changed for me. It felt like the Universe had come to give me an offer. One I could not refuse, and would no longer neglect.

How to Magnify Your Focus
One morning I decided I would sun gaze while training with the bo staff on the rooftop. I was trying to do both at the same time and learned a valuable lesson. This lesson came in the form of intense pain. There was a moment, as I was twirling the staff in my hand, that I looked towards the sun. In that moment, I was thwacked on the top of the head. The pain was sudden and sharp, but it got the point across. My first thought at this pain was actually a positive one. "Good," I said in my mind. I understood this was a sign that I had lost my focus. I lost focus because I was trying to do two things at once. It was a reminder for me to get smacked in the head by the very weapon I used for training.

The Commit Once Method
Have you ever wanted to develop a habit, but each time you try it never seems to stick? Have you felt as though you were out of control? Do you wish you had more discipline? Is your determination depleted? Do you feel motivated some days and unmotivated in others? Are you wondering what it takes to experience things on a level many never achieve?

When Until Arrives
You decide to plant a bamboo tree. Every day you water and fertilize this tree. After a few days pass by, you see nothing. You continue to water it for weeks and see nothing. Weeks turn to months, and still you see nothing. You continue to water it for a year and you see nothing. Three years go by and yet you see nothing. Finally, after five long years, the bamboo tree shoots up to over eighty feet tall in a matter of six weeks. The question is of course is: Did it take six weeks, or five years?

The Beauty of Impermanence
I learned many lessons while living with Burmese monks and nuns. Some teachings had me in awe. Others caused me to reevaluate my life. One of the greatest gems I took with me is that nothing is permanent. Everything changes and all life consists of this impermanent nature. You can apply this teaching to anything. Wealth is not permanent, but neither is poverty. Health may not be permanent, but neither is sickness. Motivation is not permanent, but neither is boredom. In your life, you will have up days and down days. Neither good times nor bad times will be permanent.

How to Retire Early
Have you been thinking of retirement? Pondering that one fateful day in the future when you're finally be able to retire? Assuming your parents are still alive today, do they work jobs as well? Have you ever wanted to retire them? You may have been brought up like I was in school. Taught to believe that, when you came out, you'd go to college. After college you would get a good job and work until retirement. Have you ever sat down to think about this? What does your future life looks like years from now?

You Are More Than You Think
You are more powerful than you think you are. You are more intuitive than you think you are. You can endure more than you give yourself credit. Why is that, you say? Let me explain. We live in a world where people underestimate themselves. Not only do they underestimate their own potential, but their own inner power.

The Field of Silence
"All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone." ~Blaise Pascal I could study this one quote for a whole lifetime. It made me ponder my own meditation journey, and the clarity it has brought me. Clarity that I didn't even know was possible for me. Like a snow globe that has been set down on a counter top. All the clouded mist and snow has softly settled. The feeling that your mind is pure and free. That's what meditation has been like for me.

Becoming Your Biggest Fan
Be the audience of your own art. If no one else will, then why not you? In my life, I have supported a lot of different people. I will always root for someone who is going for their dream. Someone who creates art with ambition and believes in themselves. That's the type of person that I strive to be. Still, I understand that I have to believe in myself more than anyone. How else could anyone believe in me?

Failure Is an Experiment
There is no failure. There are only results. I got this concept from Dr. Wayne Dyer and I have used it in my life. As you read this, you will find ways that you can use it in yours. Can you think of a situation in which you thought that you failed? Did you grow up thinking of yourself as a failure? You might have had friends or family members who criticized you for failing? What if your idea of failing changed entirely? Imagine a life where failing is a good thing.
