Bali’s Waves are Wasted on Me
I really wanted to like surfing. Like really, really wanted to! I wanted to be all cool and athletic. I wanted the waves beneath my feet and the wind in my hair. I wanted to be an effortlessly balanced, bronzed, brazen goddess.

The Shame of Feeling Traveller’s Guilt for the First Time
Intro Up until this point, I’d only ever gone on holiday in Europe. Culturally different to the UK, yes, of course, but never in ways that made me seriously question my set of morals and ethics regarding traveling.

Reverse Culture Shock and Re-learning the Meaning of HomeTop Story - September 2021
Reverse Culture Shock I remember the first time I came home from long-term traveling and living abroad. Even after two years away, I wasn’t ready to go home. I remember feeling intense sadness on our way to Bangkok airport. It wasn’t easy to tear myself away from this beautiful, colourful and vibrant country.

Quirks I miss about South Korea
Introduction South Korea gave me an incredible year and a half of my life. In my early twenties, I was straight out of university, and it was the first time I ever lived abroad but certainly not the last. It was a game-changer and a catalyst for the way that I would live from then on. There’s something very different about living abroad than traveling or going on holiday that is quite magical. All those everyday little things suddenly become a challenge and an adventure. Things you don’t even bat an eyelid at back home. Opening a bank account, working out the subway system, or getting groceries. And then there are the little things about everyday life that are unique to this new country that you live in. I wanted to share some of my favourites from South Korea with you.

What Not to Do in South Korea
Intro We’ve all been there. Traveled abroad and acted the way we’ve always acted before being told that we’re incredibly rude. Rude?! Who me?! It turns out yes you. You didn’t know the cultural faux pas of the country you’re in, and now you’ve offended someone by accident. Whoops!

Why I Hated My First Time Meditating at a Buddhist Temple Stay
I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t have high spiritual aspirations when we booked our Buddhist temple stay. I can be something of an obsessive travel list checker, and this was something that you’re supposed to do in Korea.

What’s it Like to Have Laser Eye Surgery in South Korea?
Why did I get laser eye surgery in South Korea? I’m not going to lie; it was half the price of the same surgery in England. Does that mean it’s worse quality? Actually, no, quite the opposite. They have an excellent reputation for the state of the art surgery.

Seoul. Seoul. Seoul. So Good I had to go Back Three Times!
Intro I lived in South Korea for a year and a half. During this time I made three wonderful and very different trips to Seoul. Each time I was trying to soak up yet another exciting aspect of the city. I could visit another 100 times and not see everything. It’s enormous and vibrant and has so much to offer!
