Mersey Grey

Returning to a place that you expect to be home but is no longer after all this time

I watch outside the window, colour void,

The only paint on the canvas is grey,

The sky, the clouds, the buildings, people grey,

All wrapped up, frowning into wind, annoyed,

My town, much smaller now a stranger droid,

Indoors feels wasted, suffocating grey,

I want to go back home, not here, not grey,

No longer home but where now? Feelings toyed,

Who knew that culture shock could happen reverse,

Complain, complain till they are sick of it,

You need to stop and breathe, to look and see,

To see, what they see, blessing, not a curse,

Red rocks with salty air and local wit,

The beauty, music, life, just let it be
