Remembering The Ice Storm of 94
Ask anyone who lived here at the time and you can bet they have a story for you. This month marks 27 years since one of the biggest ice storms in Tennessee history, which caused many residents to go days without electricity or heat in the cold of February, some for weeks. Trees and powerlines were downed by the ice causing thousands of power outages across Tennessee.

Slender Man
We began writing this article about some (real) strange sightings being reported around the area over the past year. Then we molded it together with the Slender Man legend. It makes spooky sense to us and is actually down right creepy. Please bare in mind that it's all in the name of good fun and we are not making any claim that Slender Man is real nor are we trying to make you believe that he is.

Cleaning Negative Energy from Your Home and Body
A cleansed and energized room should feel light, fresh, and inviting when you enter. It'll uplift your spirits and make you feel good. It’s easy to notice when bad vibes linger in your home. Negative energy from arguments, stress or illness can accumulate in spaces such as living rooms, kitchens and dens. Your home can be clean and organized but still have a heavy feeling. Negative energy is a very real thing and it can drag you down and make you feel sluggish and drained.

The Best of Jellico
We decided to spend a week going around Jellico to find out which are THE BEST places in town. We had a lot of fun doing this and met a lot of friendly people around town. Our mission was top secret and nobody knew that we was conducting our very own private investigation.

The Snow Angel
This story takes place in the Jellico Mountains. (in the mountains above the old KFC building and the Jellico Motel.) It was January 9th 1976, I'll never forget that day. I was 16 years old and my dad took me deer hunting. This was my first time going hunting and I was excited. I had been on hunting trips with my dad before but this was the first time that I was taking part in it. It had snowed the night before, about 3 inches of white magic covered the ground and the forecast was calling for more. My dad loved to hunt in the winter and he had been on many successful hunts in the snow. We had a hot breakfast and prepared two thermoses full of coffee and hot chocolate.

The Crying Solider
I was having lunch with some friends earlier today. One of my old buddies asked me why I didn't share the story of the crying solider with our JMC family. Well, I don't think I have ever heard the story, so he told it to me while we ate. Although it is a ghostly story, from time to time he wiped a tear from his eye. I could see the emotion and the passion of the story first hand. My friend has been a Jellico resident for his entire life, now in his late 70's. He told the story with meaning and truth and it touched my heart so deeply. I couldn't wait to return home, open my laptop and start typing away. This is the story of the crying solider, as told to me by a dear friend.

My Jellico Treasure Box
From the time that I was a child my biggest passion was walking through the rural mountains surrounding Jellico Tennessee. Sometimes my daddy would take us into the mountains where we'd camp out and explore for days. Our daddy was also a skilled hunter so when we was out on our adventures we ate off the land which made it even more exciting as a young boy.

The Haunted Motel
Just off of I-75 exit 160, nestled in the mountains sits a motel that has been a part of Jellico Tennessee for many, many years. Once a proud landmark the motel brought in tourist from all over the world. I spoke to a former owner who told me that they had served customers from China, Russia, Japan, Italy and almost every country that they could think of. Many customers returned on a regular basis making the motel a part of their regular road trips. The workers had even learned some of the customers by name and looked forward to seeing them again each year.

Living Through a Pandemic
I remember hearing my grandparents talk about living through the Great Depression. I'd think to myself "That must have been a bad time." Standing in lines for hours for a small amount of food and getting home to find that your sack of cornmeal was full of bugs. The tiny bit of milk was near spoiled and the bread that you was given was molded. Yet, being so thankful to have received these gifts, you work around it and scrap off the mold and sift the weevils out. Can you imagine having to do these things? I know I sure couldn't, not until this past year.

Jellico Tennessee- Unknown Heroes
Living in a small town like Jellico can be both frustrating and rewarding. For example, everyone knows each other in this town. It's almost impossible to go out to the store or drive down the street without seeing at least one person that you know.
