Bio
I fell in love with speculative fiction and poetry many years ago, but I have precious little time to write any. It was high time I started making Prose and Puns a priority, starting with Purple Poetry, Auqredis, and the World of Noyath.

Snowshod Mountain
We drove up the snowy, winding road toward the cozy A-frame cabin. The rental app was as frozen as the landscape, but we managed to check in just before it crashed. Coasting to a stop in the slick white driveway, we both took a breath to admire the serene mountain scenery. The afternoon sunlight, breaking through the clouds as they delivered their fluffy payload, glinted off the pillows of snow that covered everything in sight. Satisfied with avoiding the no-show fees, I was looking forward to this hard-earned weekend trip with my husband, away from everyone and everything.

Thankful for Plaster. Runner-Up in Holiday Hijinks Challenge.
When I was ten, I broke my arm on Thanksgiving, six days before my eleventh birthday. I was, at the time, a novice gymnast and a professional showoff. That combination proved problematic when I decided to display my brand-new back bendability for my favorite uncle in an overcrowded living room full of my family members and my aunt's furniture. The first attempt saw me hit my head on a wooden coffee table in the center of the room. You would think that would be the end of the exhibition, but as I said, I was a professional showoff. No bump on the noggin was going to deny me the recognition I so desperately craved.

A Portrait of Dorian Grey
"Archie! Look! Dorian's back again." Archie had heard of Dorian, but he had never seen him in the flesh because he had never worked the aquarium. Archie's ginger head swiveled around to catch a glimpse of their famous visitor. All the staff at the zoo called him Dorian Grey, after the famous story. Mostly, it was because he was grey. However, at least some of the reasoning behind the name had to do with the legendary good looks of the titular figure and the fact that Dorian was one of the most handsome—if a bit rotund—cats the staff had ever seen.

It's Complicated.
"It's complicated." Whenever I try to explain the complex relationship I have with my father, it inevitably boils down to this one simple phrase. Sometimes, it's a convenient and comfortable way to end an uncomfortable conversation. At others, it's a covert signal–a dog whistle by which I can gauge the reaction of the listener to determine their likelihood to understand the complex, entangled web of experiences that create the context necessary for the explanation.
