Leon Stevens, Author, interviews Leon Stevens, Reader
After several interviews on some websites after the release of my first book, Lines by Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures, I decided to work on my comedic writing and explore how an author might interview a reader. Since there were no volunteers—and I just happened to be in the room—the self interview was born!

In Conversation With Author Cara Cilento
About the interviews: When I published my first book, I looked for ways to reach new readers, and being a brand new author, participating in various book bloggers interviews was a good way to start. Some interviews were standard questions, while others had more individuality built into them.

Looking Back
“I wish that I could smile, but then I look back at each receding mile.” –from I’m Sorry by Leon Stevens I remember seeing my childhood home disappear behind the climbing tree. As my sister and I got older—and braver—we would climb higher through the prickly, sappy branches until reaching the point where you could feel it sway. We had built forts in it, each one a bit better than the last, but each with its own problems. The branches were so thick and long that they could be slid down like a slide until father trimmed the lower ones. My father built the house with just the essential tools, the labor of friends, and his love of creation.

Homeschooling : It doesn’t have to feel like work!
I’m sure that there are many parents stressing about how to teach their children in this crisis. Don’t worry, you don’t have to do it all. Not even close. This is a great time to reinforce what they already know, allow them to apply their knowledge, and have them teach you. Yes, you heard me, make them the teacher. Teaching a skill is the best application of knowledge.

Losing a Friendship
There is a saying, “When times get tough, you find out who your friends are.” That’s not to say that they weren’t your friends before, that you didn’t have fun being around them, that they wouldn’t have given you the shirt off their back. So, how do you deal with losing something that you thought was special?

Maximizing Your Food Budget
OK. I just Googled food budgets and I came up with 2 interesting facts. Well, I actually came up with a whole lot more (because that’s how it works, right?). Anyway, the average single person spends ~ 100/week on food. Do the math (I like easy math) and that’s $400/month on food. The other item was that you (yes, I mean you) should budget 6% of your earnings for food (Wait, what?! You don’t have a budget? Tsk, tsk…).
