October 10th is National Handbag day! According to NationalToday.com, this day “celebrates the piece of your ensemble that is a fashion statement and necessity all at once. Whether you’ve got an immaculate designer bag that sets you back thousands, or a massive mom purse full of snacks, tissues, and quarters, you know the handbag is an essential item for many women and even some men! While handbags started as a plain accessory for packing things needed to survive, there are now a plethora of names for the fashion piece (from satchel to clutch), a variety of sizes, and hundreds of styles.”

More Than a Beauty Brand
We all can name hundreds of beauty brands but not all are created equal. Glam Body Scrubs was able to lock in deals with Walmart and Meijer stores in the past year. To achieve that during these unprecedented times in the world is a testament to this brand’s perseverance. The luxury scrubs come in several scents like coffee craze, perfect peppermint, mad about mango and bubblin’ brown sugar. The products have several 5 star reviews on Walmart.com to back up the company’s claims that the scrubs will leave you and your skin feeling amazing. While the products themselves are amazing the owner is extraordinary in her own right. Glam Body Scrubs founder, Tiffany Cartwright, is a former Assistant Attorney General and former Administrative Law Judge for the State of Michigan who was laid off in 2012 due to State budget cuts. She returned in 2015 but was again released in 2016. “I went from University of Michigan Law School, Assistant Attorney General and Administrative Law Judge to unemployed, no health insurance, no money, and a bridge card. I lost everything!” says Cartwright. Determined not to give up, she developed a line of body scrubs mixing natural ingredients she started using to treat her daughter’s eczema. For years she had given the scrubs out as birthday, Mother’s Day, and holiday gifts but never dreamed she’d be sharing those same scrubs with customers throughout the country. “This is truly a dream come true!” says Cartwright. Cartwright successfully pitched her body scrubs in Bentonville, AR, at the Walmart Open Call, an annual initiative targeting products made in the U.S. “When my buyer said yes, I literally cried..they had no idea what I went through just to get there” Cartwright shares. She then launched a campaign called “help a sister out” this is to spread the word and encourage people to buy her products to make sure her small business keeps the opportunity to be loved on Walmart shelves. The campaign was a success! This weekend G.L.A.M Body Scrubs will hit shelves in hundreds of Walmart locations!

Edge Control for the Soul
Black women are the backbone of families everywhere. Like any other racial group, they are also prone to needing a safe space to create positive mental wellness. However many Black women don't acknowledge or allow for appropriate wellness levels in relation to self-discovery, self-esteem and more.
