Work is Not Supposed to Hurt
Workplace Bullies: Are you a victim of one of these cretins? Meghan, a marketing coordinator for a pharmaceutical distributing company in Chicago was well-liked and appreciated by her colleagues and supervisors until a new marketing manager was brought in to develop a marketing strategy. Almost immediately, Meghan's projects were eliminated or the new manager took them over and claimed credit for them. He intentionally kept her out of the loop regarding meetings and sales calls. He enjoyed making rude comments about women in front of Meghan saying things like "Women are only good for seven years and then you have to replace them." After six years of glowing reviews, Meghan was laid off six months after the new manager came on board.

Don't Piss Off (or Piss On) A Texas Woman
As a rideshare driver of almost seven years, I do not carry a gun – concealed or otherwise, not only because it is against company policy, but it is also against my own moral code. But I am not completely unprotected. I have some pepper spray and a baseball bat. I have never used the pepper spray, but I have used the bat. Yes, I most certainly have used the bat.

Don't Chase the Blues Away
“EVEN A HAPPY LIFE CANNOT BE WITHOUT A MEASURE OF DARKNESS, AND THE WORD HAPPY WOULD LOSE ITS MEANING IF IT WERE NOT BALANCED BY SADNESS. IT IS FAR BETTER TO TAKE THINGS AS THEY COME ALONG WITH PATIENCE AND EQUANIMITY.” – CARL JUNG

Laura Nyro
"Wedding Bell Blues," "Stoned Soul Picnic," "And When I Die," "Stoney End," and the unforgettable "Eli's Coming." Who among us growing up in the 60's and 70's did not groove to these songs never knowing that they were penned by a delicate, young Libra girl born in the Bronx?

Why I Drive Rideshare
I have been asked many times why I have chosen to drive rideshare and work in the gig economy as my way to support myself especially considering the recent murder of Joshua Miller, an Uber driver, here in Dallas. I have a great resume, good work ethic, and could probably get a nice, safe office job making the same amount of money, so why do I put my life and health on the line to do rideshare?

Christmas Tree Bracelet
Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, I was living in Providence, Rhode Island and attending Berklee College of Music in Boston. I had a dear friend (whom we shall call “Ed” to protect his dignity as he is a stuffy, respected professor at a large university now).

Judy Girl
My dad came from a large family (six sisters and two brothers) in Port Arthur, Texas. I ended up growing up with 23 first cousins which seemed so very normal to me, but I have discovered as an adult that most people do not HAVE that many first cousins. My oldest cousin on my dad’s side was born in 1940 and the youngest was born in 1970, so as you can imagine, a lot of second cousins were added in the mix also. We were an army.

You're in My Way, You Need to Die
I am currently sitting in a hospital room after spending three days in ICU recovering from injuries received in a horrific car accident due to some one unable to control their emotions and rage. This rage was borne out of the fact that I was driving the speed limit in the middle lane on a major freeway in Dallas and trying to change lanes with my blinker on. I simply was in their way, and not going as fast as they wanted to go, so hence, I deserved to die. I deserved to die because I existed. Because I was in their way.
