Don't Text and Drive
We have all heard the the slogan, "Don't Drink and Drive." The same idea should also apply to those who have the urge to send a text message while driving on the open road as well. Operating a cellular phone whilst driving has only been banned in a few states across America. In 2015, states like California New Jersey and Hawaii has all seen this ban come into effect. This ban has also been in effect across various cities in North America as well. This ban came into effect due to a significant increase in the number of motor vehicle fatalities that were directly caused due to texting while driving. Studies have shown that being distracted while texting and driving is actually more dangerous than getting behind the wheel after you have been drinking. That being said, there should be a ban on texting while driving in all states across America and every city in North America as well. Next time you get behind the wheel, do yourself and others on the road a favor. Leaving your phone in the back seat in case you need to pull over to make a call in case of an emergency. If you do have the urge to send someone an email or text while you're out and about cruising, leave your cellphone at home. Taking this into consideration, will save you and others a lot of grief and misery. Above all else, refraining from using your cellphone while you're behind the wheel can save lives. Including your own. Please don't text and drive.

Why Diets Never Work
Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, Jenny Craig, among others have tried to convince us for years that these diets are proven to effectively help us lose weight and keep the pounds off. The truth is, these methods of dieting never help to keep the weight off. Diets are never successful and seldom result in a positive impact on anyone. Diets never work because as soon as we tell ourselves we are fat and we need to achieve an ideal body weight, our self-esteem declines and the negative thought patterns emerge along with loathing and self-depercation also begins to rear is ugly head. Not to mention the constant fustration of keeping the weight off, the self degregation worsens if we cannot keep the weight off and maintain a desired body weight for a lengthy period of time. No matter how well structured the diet plan or compassionate the fitness trainer, diets never work. This is when we become considerably depressed and we just want to give up and reach for that bag of Doritos and chocolate cake. Not only do we not reach our goal to lose weight, in this senerio, unwanted pounds start to pack on and we end up having to start over. Instead of putting yourself though unnecessary emotional and physical hell from going on any diet, try these simple techniques instead. Lose weight safely and effectively. Set realistic goals to see the results that you know are within reach.

How to Spot a Bitcoin Scam
With tax season among us, there are a lot of scams out there to lure unsuspecting victims into unknowingly handing over thousands of dollars to criminals. Bitcoin has become the easiest and newest way to scam individuals out of thousands of dollars. Here is what you need to know on how these scams work so you can protect yourself. Bitcoin has become one of the most popular and effective ways for thieves to con their victims and get away with it due to the fact that Bitcoin is a crypto-currency, which is impossible to trace because it operates through a complex series of blockchains on the internet. Once you complete a transaction through a Bitcoin ATM machine, your money is essentially gone unless you have access to the blockchain key. Your money is essentially gone because unlike wire transfers, Bitcoin transactions cannot be traced. If you get a call from someone claiming to be from Canada Revenue or the IRS and they insist that you owe thousands of dollars in "back taxes" and are pressuring you to pay the balance owing via Bitcoin, this is a clear indication that someone is attempting to scam you out of thousands of dollars. Keep in mind that because Bitcoin is not a regulated currency, the IRS in the United States and Canada Revenue will never accept Bitcoin as payment for "back taxes owed." EVER. If you find yourself in the midst of a Bitcoin scam, hang up and alert your local authorities. Intimidation is one of the key elements of what makes these scams so successful. Thieves will say things like, if you fail to pay the balance owing on your taxes, they will come to your house and arrest you, confiscate your passport etc. Bear in mind, that Canada Revenue or the IRS will never threaten to show up on your doorstep to demand payment. If you do owe money in unpaid taxes, Canada Revenue or the IRS will send a letter to you in the mail of an outline of what, if anything, is owed. They never make house calls. For them to do this would be a direct violation of your civil rights. If you owed thousands of dollars in unpaid credit card debt, it may go to a collection agency if you are not able to settle the outstanding debt. Collection agencies do not conduct house calls either. Again, this would be in direct violation of your civil rights. If you owe thousands of dollars in credit card debt, wouldn't you be suspicious if the person pretending to be from a collection agency, asked you to make a payment via Bitcoin? Bitcoin is not accepted as a legitimate form of currency because it is not regulated by any bank and therefore cannot be traced. See where I'm going with this? A credit card cannot payment cannot be made via Bitcoin because credit card companies are regulated by banks and can be traced by banks around the world. If you get a phone call from Canada Revenue or the IRS demanding that you pay via Bitcoin in "back taxes," try to jot the number down and alert your local authorities. This way, the authorities can make a possible trace as to where the call initially came from. The authorities can have a better chance of apprehending these criminals by catching them in the act and hopefully, bring them to justice. During tax season and all year round, always remain vigilant by never giving out thing like bank information, passwords among other personal information over the phone. If you do use credit cards to make purchases over the phone or online, be sure to check bank account and credit card statements on a regular basis. This way, if you do notice any suspicious activity, you can report it sooner than later. This will save you a lot of grief and money in the long run.

Maxed Out
Managing your finances can be a juggling act, especially if you are currently in between jobs or living paycheck to paycheck. When we are in a bind, instead of paying for things with cash, we often resort to pulling out our credit cards to pay for the necessities and even things we want but do not need in life. If you do not have a credit card, the temptation to apply for one or more can result in a downward spiral of debt if you are not careful. Below are a few simple life hacks on how to avoid falling into a debt trap with maxed out credit cards, not to mention the havoc that can result from applying for additional cards and the downward spiral of debt that can potentially lead to filing for bankruptcy. Below are some "do"s and "don't's" when applying for and maintaining credit.

The Devil's Playground
Let me start by saying that I enjoy going to a casino about once a month to play the slot machines. They can be alot of fun. The flashing lights, the spinning images, and awesome graphics can leave you entertained for an hour maybe more. I occasionally accompany my mom when she wants to play bingo. However, there are many dangers associated with gambling if you are not careful. Gambling can become addictive and wreak havoc on so many levels. Similar to drugs and alcohol, gambling can destroy lives. It can develop into a disease of the brain. When we gamble, this triggers an automatic response to the "pleasure centre" in the brain, thus generating more dopamine resulting in an increase of adrenaline and euphoria. I chose to write this article to educate those who start and to encourage problem gamblers to seek help.
