However, there was actually a closer interpretation of an open-world game long before these - Star Wars Galaxies.

Why Dave Filoni Should NOT Run Lucasfilm
Dave Filoni is considered by many Star Wars fans to be George Lucas’s Padawan ever since he first appeared on the scene by the maker's side. Working on great works like The Clone Wars and Rebels, he has had his hand in many of the creative aspects within the Star Wars Universe. Most recently, he has been getting his own live action directing credits in The Mandalorian. He is beloved by many fans alike, so much so that many would want him to become the president of Lucasfilm either now or when Kathleen Kennedy decides to retire, thinking him the natural heir to the company. However, is that really such a good idea? What does it take to run a company, let alone run a franchise as large as Star Wars under the banner of the Disney corporation. Can a simple director become a president of a company? Many would argue yes because that is what happened to George Lucas. However, does that necessarily happen these days? Could Filoni continue to follow in his mentor's footsteps?

5 Anime That Were Influenced By ‘Star Wars’
It goes without saying that Star Wars has had an enormous influence on not only pop culture, but also culture in general. It has been well documented that Japanese culture and media had a huge influence on Star Wars. However, what is not talked about nearly enough is the effect that Star Wars had on Japanese culture and media, specifically anime. The success of Star Wars in Japan helped propel the space opera anime in Japan into popularity, which subsequently led to more anime being created. This cycle naturally continued from the 1970s through today, and the inspiration has come full circle several times. George Lucas has said in the past that he was a fan of anime, and it was part of the reason he chose Genndy Tartakovsky for the 2003 Clone Wars series. On the other hand, we do not hear much about the influences Star Wars has had on anime, even though it played a huge role in skyrocketing anime in popularity. The influences are not always as obvious as one might think. It is important to note that creators of some of the anime listed here never clearly stated that they drew inspiration from Star Wars. However, we could see elements from the saga sprinkled in the anime. Without further adieu, here are some anime that have been inspired by Star Wars.

Bo-Katan Will Make Appearance In 'The Mandalorian' Season 3
The Mandalorian Season 2 set out to expand the scope of the show and Din Djarin's world view, or should we say, "galactic view." This was accomplished by introducing him to numerous characters from critical points in the Star Wars timeline, including Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and, perhaps most importantly for Din's character, Bo-Katan Kryze. Portrayed in animation and live-action by Katee Sackhoff, the character of Bo-Katan potentially heralds a deep dive into the world of the Mandalorians. With recent teases that Sackhoff is gearing up to once again portray the fiery Mandalorian warrior, Season 3 of The Mandalorian could herald a visit to Mandalore for the first time in live action.

The One Thing 'Star Wars' Does Better Than Marvel
Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are two very successful franchises that have made a promise of creating an interconnected universe throughout various media, such as books, comics, television shows, and movies. This might come as a surprise to many, but only one universe comes out on top. If we were to look at which franchise does a better job of interconnectivity between the various means of storytelling, we will have to say that Star Wars is more successful than the MCU in its entire existence as a movie franchise.
