The 2021 TikTok Sea Shanty Craze
Back in 2019, sea shanties were cast into the mainstream when the movie, Fisherman's Friends was released. Based on a true story, the movie tells the tale of a group of Cornish fishermen from Port Isaac who signed a record deal with Universal Records. The group achieved a top 10 hit with their debut album of traditional sea shanties. Fast forwards to 2021 and sea shanties would again be launched into the limelight by young singers and musicians on the social media app, TikTok.

YouTube, Where the Internet Trolls Hang Out.
Internet trolls are not things that I have ever really had to deal with, nor that I have given much thought to. I have seen a lot in the media about cyberbullying, as I am sure everyone has. Fortunately, I have never been the victim of any such attack, until I recently encountered a nasty little internet troll on YouTube.

Can You Really Make Thousands From Selling Pictures of Your Feet?
I am always looking out for side hustles, I make no secret of the fact that I really do not like my day job. I have always been aware that the foot fetish business was pretty large. However, I never gave it much thought. After trying out a few side hustles that made me a little money here and there, I came across a video on YouTube from a girl that claimed she made $1000 a month from selling pictures of her feet. Ok, I thought, I have reasonably nice feet, well to the untrained foot lover’s eye anyway. So I thought I would give it a try.

The Unsolved Murder of Mavis Hudson in Chesterfield, England
Mavis Hudson did not have the best of childhoods. It was alleged that she was a handful for her widowed mother, and despite being only 15, she was a smoker and liked the company of older men. Due to her behaviour, Mavis had spent some of her adolescent years living in a children’s home. Her mother also told investigating police officers that Mavis had run away from home on several occasions.

Located directly off Highway 15 in California, today, Zzyzx is home to the California State University Desert Studies Centre. However, it was once home to a health spa called Soda Springs or Zzyzx, with a somewhat bizarre story attached to it. The spa founder and owner, Curtis Howe Springer turned out to be somewhat of a conman, despite claiming to be a doctor amongst other things.

Is it Time That YouTube Removed the Dislike Button?
Today we live in a society where there is no escaping social media. Whilst many platforms have taken steps to prevent online bullying and harassment YouTube seems to be lagging behind somewhat. Only last week, one of my Facebook friends had a comment that he made removed on Facebook because he called a friend a rude word in jest. However, YouTube is littered with hate comments and political propaganda. Both in the comments and the content that they openly allow on their platform.
