Purpose
I've seen a lot of posts lately about the meaning of life; the reasons for death. Mankind has wondered about his place in the universal scheme, his purpose for being, since the first time a caveman truly realized his existence was finite.... destined to end. All things are finite. Every tree eventually withers and dies. Even mountains crumble to dust over the eons. The very universe itself will eventually contract onto itself in order to make room for something new. Humanities edifices, social systems, beliefs, and many accomplishments shall most likely be long returned to the stardust from which we came long before then.

A Silent Peace
I shall say nothing Though there be a lot to say Keep peace by silence **************************************** This haiku is for those who are screaming, ranting, and raving… internally … while trying to maintain silence to avoid pain, reprisal, abuse. The lover hiding the bruises. The employee paid too little and working too hard for too little appreciation. The child accused of a misdeed he didn’t perpetuate, knowing to say anything will bring only more retribution. The innnocent protecting the beloved guilty with stoicism. You all know what I mean.

Rudolph the Ostracized
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. A beloved classic Christmas tale / song. Listen to the story overall. It is a lesson in morality. It is a warning about treating others badly only to discover that you now need that individual to avert a disaster. Still, how close was it to Rudolph becoming the perpetrator of a disaster?

Mojave Blues
"MAY DAY! MAY DAY! This is Cessna N3713X EXPERIENCING ENGINE FAILURE! MAY DAY! Any receiving station MAY DAY!" The only response was a burst of static. Nathan Quinn had no way of knowing if his transmission had been heard, but it seemed doubtful. Frantically he pulled on the yoke to no avail. Both engines were dead and his control console was showing a plethora of alarm signals. Shit! Nathan had less than a minute until his plane hit the scrub littered desert landscape below. He struck the control console with a fist.
