This is one of the most photographed landmarks in the country, with millions of visitors, both domestic and international coming to walk among the dozens of buildings, that make up the traditional Japanese Shinto Temple.
Grumble BeePublished 5 years ago in WanderA Conversation We All Need to Have
We have been travelling now for four and a half months. It has been challenging and rewarding in equal measures. We have learnt a lot—from vehicle maintenance to ancient history and being a part of a massive social experiment without realising.
The (Dis)Loyalty Program
The market is saturated with loyalty programs. We get rewarded for steps, transacting and viewing content... we collect points, digital currency, coupons, even digital badges that are nothing more than bragging rights. Sometimes it’s just the seemingly day to day things that would occur with or without this symbiotic relationship we share with a particular provider.
From the desk of RebeccaPublished 5 years ago in Wander8 Hour Singapore Layover
In the middle of our 30+ hour journey to Australia, we had a layover in Singapore. Now, Singapore wasn't really somewhere that was a bucket list place for me, and I didn't really have any sort of idea of what there was to do there. But when the cheapest flight to Australia included a long layover, we jumped at the chance to explore this city-state.

As I entered the cockpit, one foot at a time, I remembered what my flight instructor had told me as he prattled off instructions and reminders.

A trip to New York city is incomplete without experiencing the rich amount of American history that is on offer. The museums, the monuments, parks, statues, and historical sites is overwhelming. But top of most tourists' lists is a trip to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The story of the United States is so deeply integrated with these two national parks that actually visiting them can really make all the difference in your view of the United States.

Adapt to their fantastic coffee culture. When in Rome do as the Romans do. This means not asking for a caramel macchiato or frappuccino. The closest you'll get to a traditional cold drink is coffee shaken over ice (which is then sometimes strained out). 9/10 times if you ask for a latte, you're just going to get a cup of steamed milk.
Tired CoffeePublished 5 years ago in WanderSo You Want to Live in London?
So, you managed to get your butt over to one of the most global cities in the world, and you decided you're ready to live in it. Great! Welcome to the club. London is a gigantic city that extends so far into its own county. Meaning, a little green fish who just stepped off the tarmac onto a train is going to feel pretty lost the first couple weeks of living there. I'm no expert, but here are a few things that I've learned while living in this city, aside from getting a travel card the first day you arrive, because that's pretty obvious if you want to get around this city.

Taking a vacation and committing to traveling long term are not the same thing. On vacation, every day is the best day of your life. You’ve got an idea of what you want to fill your days with, and you’re constantly going on fun (usually expensive) excursions. Long term travel has days like that, but for the most part you’ve just committed to living an everyday life—just in a new country. It’s a different beast entirely, and it comes with its own set of rules for survival. These are my top tricks for not just surviving, but really making the most of your adventures.
Andrea SprinterPublished 5 years ago in WanderHow It Feels to Turn Back on a "14er"
Shrill sounds of my alarm broke the black silence. The finality of it was insulting. Hadn't I just laid my head down on the pillow? And then tossed and turned for four hours cursing insomnia?
Karly ThomasPublished 5 years ago in WanderHow to Travel for Less Than $500
Traveling doesn’t have to be crazy expensive and there are many ways that people have found to travel the world with little money. I could tell you hundreds of ways to save money on traveling, but instead, I will show you how I recently traveled on a budget and was able to travel for less than $500. This story begins when I asked a friend of mine to travel with me a few months ago. We wanted to go somewhere cool, but cheap since we were both a bit tight on money. After all of our planning and budgeting, we were able to travel to Portland, Oregon from Phoenix, Arizona for less than $500 a person. Let me break down exactly how we were able to do this.
