Feminism demands a future free of fat shaming, body obsession and the male gaze.
Dignity Mistakenly Undignified
Sisters, I invite you to close your eyes and remember your first menstrual cycle. What were your immediate thoughts and reactions? Now when your cycle comes, how do you welcome it?
Patricia SugiPublished 7 years ago in VivaEverything Is Bad for You
Yes, I smoke, I drink, I drink Diet Coke (oh no, aspartame!), I even eat red bloody meat and worst of all, I eat fried food like it’s going out of style. I know these things are obviously bad for me but I mean, if I die tomorrow or even in the next two hours (dying tomorrow is too cliché), I want to know I’m going six feet under with a belly full of terrible shit I loved and lungs as black as tar.

As a mirror, I’ve pretty much lived my life just leaning against one out of the four walls in a maturing 16-year-old girl's room whose name I suspect is Samantha. At least, the reason why I think this is because I usually hear her family calling her Sam, or Sammy, so I made the inference that her name is Samantha, or just maybe her father was hoping to have a boy, so he decided to name her Samuel.

So, as far as I know... I’ve been a vagina owner for 24 years. And by that, I definitely mean I’m aware I’ve had one… for 24 years. I’ve always been pretty in-tune with things that are going on down below. However, some people aren’t that perceptive, or perhaps they just don’t care about the health of their lady-bits. If you’re one of those people, stop the neglect right now. Having a healthy vagina is very important and here I will share some tips, tricks, and things from experience.

In one of my Blog posts, I talked about being insecure. This is a very accurate and still relevant problem. However what I did not say is how all of this occurred. Let me share with you where things got started; maybe my story can help someone else or perhaps someone out there can help me a bit.

My Thin Privilege
As with all topics discussed openly on the internet, the Thin Privilege argument has descended into a battle in which a side must be picked. You're either pro-fat or pro-skinny, and there's no middle ground. Well...

In December 2016, I went to a party. I got drunk. Very drunk. But somehow, I remember one thing in my night: I met a girl who wasn’t wearing a bra. I remember hearing her say it while I was walking and I just stopped, turned around and asked her, “How can you not wear a bra? You have big breasts!”

From the title, this looks like just another body activist post, I get that. This topic weighs heavy on my heart because I have neglected how amazing the human body is and how even more amazing mine is. We are all unique obviously: different shapes, different colors, the list goes on. But it’s time we start accepting compliments with, “Thank you, that means a lot” instead of, “No, I look awful. You should have seen how long it took me to pull it together today.” Why do we have to counter a compliment with a negative comment? I know when I do it I am just trying to let the other person know that I am NOT the way they perceive me; I don’t wake up with straight hair and a perfect skin. But that’s not what a compliment is meant to do, this kind hearted person is complimenting the beauty you hold, because they are appreciating the work of art you as a human being are. It’s time for you to see what they see. And this is how:
Thrifty, Curvy, & ThrivingPublished 7 years ago in VivaHow Do Birth Control Pills Work?
If you're new to learning everything about birth control pills, hello and welcome. You're probably on the journey to have an infinite amount of sex without the risk of getting pregnant from your rowdy nights. You're just like every other girl who's in the same position as you — wanting sex but minus the baby.

In recent times we see body pos everywhere! This is a huge leap for our society. If you want to believe it or not, our world is coming around slowly to the idea that not every woman needs to look like the “typical model.” Sure, there are still trolls out there that will never agree that a woman over 140lbs can be beautiful, healthy, and a free to wear whatever they want. But I’m not here to pay attention to negative trolls; I’m here to shed light on the constant battle women young and old (men too) deal with daily and how we, as women, can turn our insecurities into the armor we wear every day to face the world. Obviously I am going to speak from a young woman’s perspective, but I encourage you, even if you’re not a “young woman,” read on, and maybe you can get a new take on body positivity through my eyes!

Do You Want to Know a Secret?
I have a secret. It could be argued that keeping this secret makes me a bit of a hypocrite. For all my body positivity, there is one thing about myself that I cannot learn to love: my facial hair.
Why Plastic Surgery Can Be Feminist
I am non-binary and consider myself to be genderless. I refuse to wear skirts but love wearing my nails long, sharp, and polished. Most of the time, I like to bind my chest and/or hide my figure under baggy shirts. I'm also what one might consider a pretty staunch feminist, as well as a leftist extremist.
