I love being a 48 year old empowered woman. It has always been me, and in my forties, I have had a profound realization that love has always resided within myself. In my younger years, I mistook unrequited love for the true essence of love. Those years were about pain and heartbreak and insecurity. I wrote about that here. As I entered my thirties, I found myself in a long-term relationship that was good, but not quite right. Better doesn’t mean it’s IT! However, something shifted between the ages of 38 and 48, and it ignited a fire within me.

Being single for ten years has allowed me to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery. Initially, transitioning into singlehood after a five-year relationship was challenging. I had to dig deep and rediscover my identity, forging my own path. Although the breakup was amicable and there was no heartbreak, I still needed to carve out my individuality.

Over the past decade, I have delved into the depths of my soul and unearthed my true self. And she’s a really cool being. I have learned to recognize my worth and boldly express my needs. Through self-reflection and growth, I have honed my communication skills and established my non-negotiables, whether it be in friendships, romance, or business. Standing tall in my own power, I have reached a point where I know I can thrive on my own. My forties have brought me to a place where I realize I have rights when it comes to love. A right to fun. A right to pleasure. A right to me time. A right to what I view as “Supernatural love” pure alignment.

This profound journey was further enriched by my pursuit of a life-coaching certification and seeking guidance from coaches who helped me navigate through the program. It has been a process of self-discovery and empowerment, where I have found a profound sense of peace within myself that I never thought possible. I have become complete, and I no longer require anyone to fulfill me. However, I remain open to the idea of a partnership that enriches my life. Kind of like adding seasoning to food when you cook.

This partnership is no longer about dependency, but about mutual growth and support, and it is infused with boatloads of creativity and fun. It is a place where love blossoms in harmony with our individual journeys and we are better together than alone.

Through this incredible voyage, I have come to understand that self-love entails accepting and embracing all aspects of myself, even the ones I once judged harshly. It involves embracing my flaws and imperfections with compassion and understanding and sometimes laughter. Interestingly, as I have embraced singlehood, I have attracted clients who also seek to learn these valuable lessons. Teaching them has deepened my own level of self-love, and I get to practice it more deeply everyday. I have created playlists as tools along the way for myself and others (one for healing unworthiness here) (one for empowerment here). I have written articles to use as tools as well. From writing a heartfelt letter from the goddess of love, (read it here) which I portrayed myself during a women's course called "Becoming Venus," to exploring the concept of shadow work, (read it here). I have been able to inspire others on their own journeys of self-discovery.

Today, my life is no longer a codependent love song. Instead, it resembles a symphony of self-empowerment and self-love. And my favorite song to listen to to remind me of this is Cream by Prince. He actually wrote it while looking in the mirror at himself. Listen here. I mean really listen to the lyrics and integrate them into your being.

This is the path I choose to walk towards everyday. This is the path I have chosen, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
