Fat girl privilege
Guess who is unoriginal but I REALLY hate my body. I can’t even say lock down has a lot to answer for because I was overweight before. Chins that go on for days and boobs sagging so hard that I trip over them when I walk.
Dawn ElizabethPublished 4 years ago in VivaSociety Makes Female Body Types a Fashion Statement
The "ideal" female body is constantly changing, motivating women to try and conform to each new era's accepted body type. Looking back over American history and the women that history glorified, it's clear to see the body type that was in style during that time period. Sadly, the majority of these body types are unattainable for most people. Society picks and chooses certain female body parts that get to become a fad that is here one day and gone the next.
Madeline KeysPublished 4 years ago in VivaHUMANS ARE NOT SIMPLY CANDY
One of the biggest misconceptions of social media is the fact that we tend to judge before we know the individual based off of the photos they take and how they portray themselves. Many of us are not aware of the demons we fight everyday for survival or obstacles many of us are facing. Social Media is just another outlet to advertise, market, promote or do something to just feel good about yourself. Sometimes we should just take social media for what it is and not speculate.

Who knows because this is not one of them stories...

Caitlyn BellPublished 4 years ago in VivaPatriarchy Within 1001 Nights
Gender roles have been established through society, mainly marking men as the dominant figure and women as the submissive figures. As time has passed by, insinuations of how women and men should act have become expected behaviors by society, such that if one should oppose society itself would brand that person as an outcast; for example the expected role of a father being the dominant figure in a family - this is often called the Patriarchal Culture. This societal structure has led to society not being able to progress through the years, raising insecurities among men and competition against one another. Through the story, Arabian Nights: The Sultan and His Vow, the characters’ interactions provide insight into the toxic traits that make up a patriarchal culture and the negative concept of masculinity.

URBAN GLAM LIFEPublished 4 years ago in VivaI Am My Sister's Keeper
When women come together and help each other NOTHING could stand in their way. They are an absolute force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately women have been taught to see each other as a sort of competition. They've been taught it's more acceptable to tear a woman down than to build her up. For centuries women have proven that they are nothing if not strong. They have also proven that they are stronger united. So why is it that a woman's first instinct is to tear down a woman? I believe this comes from decades and decades of men forcing us to behave in a more "civilized" manner. Men knew that when women came together their power has no limit, and this power scared the men. Therefore the men had to separate and reprogram women. As long as the men did this the women were controllable, docile even.

Shahbaz AbbasiPublished 4 years ago in VivaA Letter to Survivors of Rape
The shame is not yours. Shame does not come from within it comes from outside of ourselves. Rape survivors are made to feel ashamed for the crimes committed against them. Society finds excuses, tries to defend offenders and silence the hurting.
